Ike name trivia

Ike being an actual name is irrelevant, as random did not choose actual names, but rather, names of existing Nintendo characters. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:18, 3 February 2012 (EST)

When did Ike's game begin development? Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk
I can't find any data on when Path of Radiance started development; there, however, was an unreleased Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo 64, though no details are known about it. Whether or not Ike appeared in that is speculation to the max :P. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 23:26, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Path of Radience was released in 2005, and it's uncommon for games to take 5 years to develop. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Emissary 23:29, 3 February 2012 (EST)
So then this is almost certainly a coincidence? I say it is not notable then. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 23:30, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Addendum: Serene's Forest, a reliable Fire Emblem source, claims that FE:PoR was being developed before Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, which was released in 2004.] --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 23:31, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Ike the character could have been conceptualized before development begin, but that's besides the point. The point of the trivia, is that Ike, a character in the squeal, was one of the random names in Melee despite not existing yet. The argument that "it's an actual name" doesn't negate the trivia, as besides Ike itself being an uncommon name, the random name generator did not choose actual names.
We can speculate and speculate why Ike was one of the random names, but what the trivia stated is fact, and the information itself does make good trivia. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:32, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Wait, so is "Ike" the only name on the list that doesn't refer to a Nintendo character? If so, than I agree that it is notable. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 23:35, 3 February 2012 (EST)
I don't remember all the possible random names, and I do doubt Ike was the only name in the random generator that was not of an publicly existing Nintendo character at the time. Regardless of that though, my previous stance on it still stands. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:43, 3 February 2012 (EST)
If "Ike" is not unique, then it may well be a coincidence. I never used the random name function, so we'll have to look at the full list. Remember, I'm neutral on this, as I don't have enough information to make a judgement, but it's important whether "Ike" was likely just a truly random name chosen or whether he and a group of other "random" names who later made appearances in Nintendo games are in the list. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 23:48, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Let the reader decide if it's a "coincidence" or not, my point still stands. Information like this is what trivia is about. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:55, 3 February 2012 (EST)
I found a complete list of random names in Melee. Surprisingly, very few of them are actually related to Smash Bros., such as ROT8 and AOK. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 00:25, 4 February 2012 (EST)

All Random Names

Would it be possible to make, like, a table of all the random names in the games? Granted, it would take a shit load of time, but it would be an interesting set of data to collect. Per Request, for User:Aidanzapunk.Aidan the Aura Master 10:22, 3 March 2015 (EST)
