Is there a way to unlock hidden characters and stages without playing 400 matches? :The playing "X amount of matches" is just an alternate method of unlocking everyone. So yes, everyone has a different method to unlock them. And no stages require a large amount of matches to be played to unlock them. To know how to unlock each character or stage, just read their article. You can also fall back on doing Special Brawl using 1 HP and Flower status to rack up match counts, which will quickly get you to the characters.
