The Mario Kart Series is a racing series that has appeared on many Nintendo consoles, starting with the SNES. The games themselves feature primarily Mario characters, with a few extra surprises occasionally thrown in. In addition to normal racing, players can also attack each other with items such as Shells and Banana Peels.
Consoles
The consoles that the Mario Kart games have appeared on are (in order of games' release, from newest to oldest):
In the Super Smash Bros. series
- The Mario Circuit track appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- Many of the music choices for the Mario Circuit stage come from these games.
- One of the karts appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
- Bowser's dash in the Super Smash Bros. series utilizes a motor, presumably from his kart in the series.
- The Banana Peel originates from these games.
- Mario Kart 64 is listed as one of Mario's main game appearances in Super Smash Bros.
- The Red Shell works like the said item in the Mario Kart series - a homing projectile.
- Some items from the Mario Kart Series appeared in the Super Smash Bros. Series.
Trivia
- Most of the various characters in the Mario Kart games appear in the Smash Bros. series in some way, other than a trophy. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Wario, Diddy Kong, and ROB are playable characters in at least one Smash Bros. game; Daisy and Waluigi appear as alternate costumes to Peach and Luigi, respectively; Birdo appears in the Mushroom: Kingdom II stage in Melee; Koopa Troopa appears in the background of the Mushroom Kingdom stage in the first game, in Adventure Mode and the Mushroom Kingdom stage in Melee, and enemies in The Subspace Emissary in Brawl; Red Koopa Paratroopa appears as another enemy in Subspace (the Koopa Paratroopa in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! was red); Petey Piranha appeared as a boss in Brawl; Shy Guys appear in Mario Circuit; and Toad appears as part of Peach's standard special move. Waluigi also appears as an Assist Trophy as well as Luigi's alternate costume.
