In Super Smash Bros. 4, since both Pit and Dark Pit are clones who are exactly identical in their physics, hitboxes/hurtboxes, and all their frame data bar a few moves, most of the time when referring to something about one of the Pits, it equally applies to the other and thus it's simpler to refer to them both together simultaneously. This also often results in both characters being listed together in one spot on tier lists and matchup charts.
