One player mode was the campaign game in the Nintendo 64 game. It was ressurected as Classic mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee. There are eleven stages counting bonus stages. Players may choose their character and settings.

List of stages:

  1. Link on Hyrule Castle.
  2. Yoshi team (18) on Yoshi's Island. These Yoshis are lightweight and easy to KO.
  3. Fox McCloud on Sector Z.
  4. Break the targets (bonus stage).
  5. Mario and Luigi on Princess Peach's Castle. The player is given a random ally to help them on this match.
  6. Pikachu in Saffron City.
  7. Giant Donkey Kong on Congo Jungle. The player is given two allies to help them on this match.
  8. Board the Platforms (bonus stage)
  9. Kirby team (8) on Dreamland. These Kirbys are lightweight and easy to KO.
