Mr. Game & Watch (Mr. ゲーム&ウォッチ, Misutā Gēmu ando Uotchi) is a character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. His first appearance was in the Game & Watch series (1980), created by Gunpei Yokoi. However, he wasn't given a name until SSBM, and his obscurity took many by surprise.

Mr. Game & Watch is unlocked by clearing Target Test with all twenty four other characters, beating classic and adventure with all characters (starters and unlockables), or, alternatively, by playing 1,000 VS. Matches.

Clearing Classic Mode with Mr. Game & Watch will unlock Flat Zone, a level that takes place in a giant Game & Watch.

Pros

  • Small and can crouch under projectiles
  • Has many strong killers
  • Can chain throw with each of his throws
  • Can combo characters, especially fastfallers, fairly well
  • Huge vertical recovery distance
  • High range and large hitbox on many of his attacks (for example, his neutral aerial has higher range than any other nair)

  • Very light weight, thus is able to be KO'd easily
