Yoshi (SSBM)/Down tilt
Overview[edit]
Yoshi does a quick tail-swipe along the ground in front of him. The move has a lot of incredibly strong characteristics which make it widely considered the best down tilt in the entire game: decent damage, good range, a semi-spike angle, the fact that it distorts Yoshi's hurtbox, relatively low end lag for a down tilt, etc. But the move's strongest asset, without question, is its very high set knockback, which is so high that it can tumble every character, even Bowser, at 0%. This makes the move a terrifying option in neutral, as it can lead to a tech chase at game start or when the Yoshi player's opponent has just respawned, which could potentially lead to a zero-to-death. The move is also very proficient at edgeguarding, thanks to the move's aforementioned semi-spike angle, and can lead to early-percent gimps due to the high set knockback.
