Black Cat is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream. She was confirmed on December 22nd by DatNuttyKid immediately following the announcement of a revamped Dark Pit, and is the first character besides Wario himself to represent the Wario series.

Attributes[edit]

The Black Cat, like most of DatNuttyKid's characters, is a small, speedy, and lightweight character. She fights mainly using the items from Wario Land 4, but also with some typical cat moves such as scratching and biting. Uniquely, she turns into the Item Shopkeeper whenever she wields an item, and using any attack that doesn't require this form will cause her to drop the item before turning back into her cat form.

Moveset[edit]

Standard Attacks[edit]

  • Neutral: Black Cat claws at the opponent.
    • Combo: Black Cat claws at the opponent three times.
  • F-Tilt: Black Cat bites.
  • U-Tilt: Black Cat stands on her hind legs and waves her front paws over her head.
  • D-Tilt: Black Cat kicks her hind leg out behind her.
  • Dash: Black Cat transforms into the Item Shopkeeper and dives forward, turning back as she lands.
  • F-Smash: Black Cat transforms into the Item Shopkeeper and punches.
  • U-Smash: Black Cat transforms into the Item Shopkeeper and punches upward.
  • D-Smash: Black Cat transforms into the Item Shopkeeper and does a split.
  • N-Air: Black Cat swipes her paw.
  • F-Air: Black Cat bites.
  • B-Air: Black Cat performs a somersault.
  • U-Air: Black Cat spins, damaging anyone who collides with her head.
  • D-Air: Black Cat puts all four of her paws together below her with her claws extended.
  • Grab: Black Cat snags opponents with her paw.
    • Pummel: Black Cat kicks the opponent with her hind legs.
    • F-Throw: Black Cat flings the opponent with her mouth.
    • B-Throw: Black Cat flings the opponent with her mouth.
    • U-Throw: Black Cat rolls onto her back and uses her feet to kick the opponent upward.
    • D-Throw: Black Cat releases the opponent, jumps, and lands on them in a pose similar to her down aerial.
  • Floor-F: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and punches as she stands up.
  • Floor-B: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and kicks as she stands up.
  • Floor-T: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and jumps straight up, performing a headbutt.
  • Edge: Black Cat swipes with her front paws as she climbs up.
  • Neutral Special - Bugle: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and pulls out the Bugle. As long as its out, the button can be repeatedly tapped to emit music notes that float a short distance before popping. Both the note itself and the pop of the note do damage, but the pop does more and has knockback.
    • Custom 1 - Single-Note Bugle: Instead of being tapped multiple times to create a music note, the button must instead be held to charge a single note. This note will be larger and do more damage depending on how long its charged.
    • Custom 2 - Explosive Bugle: Instead of popping, the music notes explode, which does more damage. However, they don't travel as far and the notes themselves don't do damage at all.
  • Side Special - Apple Bomb: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and pulls out an Apple Bomb, which she carries like an item. When used, it turns into a bomb that functions like Link's. It can also be dropped and used by other opponents in the same way. If Black Cat is already holding an item when this move is used, the Apple Bomb will fall to the ground.
    • Custom 1 - Instant Bomb: The bomb explodes immediately upon being pulled out. This is faster and has more range, but leaves less room for Black Cat to escape the blast, so she is almost always damaged.
    • Custom 2 - Apple: Instead of pulling out an Apple Bomb, the Black Cat pulls out just an Apple, which, when used, heals the holder.
  • Up Special - Blast Cannon: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and a Blast Cannon appears around her before firing her out. The longer the button is held, the more vertical her launch distance will be- however, if it is held too long, the cannon will explode, damaging her (and anyone else nearby).
    • Custom 1 - Speedy Cannon: The Blast Cannon immediately fires Black Cat out in a set diagonal direction. She goes further, but does not damage opponents as she flies, making it a purely recovery-based move.
    • Custom 2 - Bomb Cannon: Instead of launching Black Cat herself, the cannon launches a bomb, like its actual use from Wario Land 4. The bomb does more damage and explodes in midair, but the move cannot be used for recovery.
  • Down Special - Vizorman: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper and pulls out Vizorman, who blasts a rainbow laser from his eyes.
    • Custom 1 - Plummeting Vizorman: If used in midair, Vizorman will plummet, doing massive damage and burying any grounded opponents he hits. He will fire the laser after landing, but it does less damage.
    • Custom 2 - Homing Vizorman: After being spawned, Vizorman will teleport to a random opponent and fire at them. However, the lasers do less damage.
  • Final Smash - Transformation: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper, who plays her "Here's a smile for you!" animation as an icon appears over her head, signifying who she will transform into:
    • Black Dog: The Black Dog can run and jump around on the stage. The attack buttons have her bite, and anyone caught in her mouth can be bitten multiple times as they try to shake free. This does a lot of damage, but does not have much KO potential.
    • Large Lips: The Large Lips float around the stage. If they collide with an opponent, they will kiss them, sending them flying. This does less damage, but is more likely to KO an opponent.
    • Big Fist: Upon transformation, the Big Fist will immediately vanish. It will then reappear from the left side of the screen and rocket across. How high or low it appears is randomized, making it harder to aim, but it does massive damage and knockback.
    • Black Dragon: The Black Dragon, like the Large Lips, flies around the stage. When the attack button is pushed, it will release a single massive stream of flame from its mouth, ending the final smash. This does the most damage, but does no knockback and is hard to aim.

Taunts[edit]

  • Up Taunt: Black Cat turns into the Item Shopkeeper, who smiles and says "Here's a smile for you!" while two hearts appear next to her head.
  • Side Taunt: A newspaper comes out of nowhere and blows into the Black Cat's face.
  • Down Taunt: Black Cat turns into Princess Shokora, who winks.

On-Screen Appearance[edit]

Princess Shokora emerges from a Vortex and turns into the Black Cat.

Idle Poses[edit]

  • Black Cat licks its paw.
  • Black Cat looks around.

Reveal trailer[edit]

The trailer opens up with the familiar clip of Black Cat walking through a tunnel (albeit in 3D), when suddenly light shines on her and Wario's car comes flying at her, which she manages to duck under. As usual, the newspaper blows into her face, which she looks at, but instead of seeing the article about the Golden Pyramid, it instead reads "CALLING ALL SMASHERS! The dream Super Smash Bros. tournament is about to begin!" with a picture of Masahiro Sakurai. She looks at the camera, and her introduction tagline appears.

The rest of the trailer features Black Cat battling Wario and various other characters on various stages.

Trophies[edit]

Black Cat
This may look like your regular adorable black street cat, but it's actually a beautiful princess - Princess Shokora of the Golden Pyramid. This enigmatic feline led Wario through his adventures in the pyramid for treasure, eventually helping him take out the Golden Diva, which returned her to her true form. She could also turn into a shopkeeper, and for a certain price would turn into a dog, dragon, fist, or pair of lips to attack a boss for him. She must be as greedy as Wario, because she'll only help if there's something in it for her.

Black Cat (Alt.)
The Item Shopkeeper appears before a boss battle, and will sell Wario numerous items- and Black Cat uses those items in Smash! The Apple Bomb may look tasty, but it actually hides a bomb inside of it. She can even launch herself out of a cannon! Just be careful not to charge it too long, or it might just explode! Poor kitty...
