Hello fellow Smashers. Welcome to my page. I am a decent Smasher relatively new to the competitive scene. I formerly went under the IP If you have any questions or if anything on this page needs to be changed, refer to the talk page. For the record, any edit or comment you see that I've made before March of 2016 that isn't janitorial is complete detrimental shit. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my reputation. I made a tier list on here, but it's outdated and awful. As time goes by I will make a new one on TheTopTens, a far more flexible platform for me to do so on, and I will have it linked here.

Sidenote: It's telling that both high-level competitive players I've talked to so far, Omega Tyrant and Abadango, hate my guts. I've had too long a history with OT across multiple platforms to even bother explaining but back then I was a necro-bumping little idiot. Not long ago I tweeted out jokingly how part of me wouldn't forgive Abadango for switching from Mewtwo to Bayonetta, but tweets don't give me enough room to specify jokes so he muted me instantly.

Why bother. :(

My Story[edit]

I was initially very skeptical about playing the Smash series starting with Brawl for its T Rating. But after reading about some of the SSE on Kirby Wiki, I was pretty excited. When I found out my dad had Brawl on his USB Loader GX in 2011, me and my brother found ourselves instantly having loads of fun. I mained a weak Lucario and always handicapped myself to 170% (I later dropped it in favor of Meta Knight in 2013), and my brother played a Snake fearsome to scrubs like me. In early 2014, my brother showed me the PAC-MAN trailer and I was stoked. In August 2014, Smash 4 became all I really talked about. For Christmas, I got both versions of Smash 4 (my brother also got his own copy of Smash 3DS) and I fell in love like I did in Brawl. After I got Smash 4, I could not stop playing. For my 11th birthday, I got Melee, but because I cannot enter tournaments, it didn't sit with me as well as Brawl or Smash 4. However, it still is a very fun game that I still play to this day, and it has taught me a lot. I still have much to learn about Smash, but I'm slowly learning.

  • Smash is unrivaled.
  • All Melee techniques are mostly irrelevant to me besides L-canceling, because I pocket Ganondorf.
  • RIP Iwata. You were a beautiful sunset at noon.

This is for anyone who is a good friend of mine. Simply put it on your userpage to show it. (stolen from Disaster Flare, for the record)

  • Aidanzapunk (You're very hardworking and patient, keep up the good work! ;-))
  • Drill Blaster Mark 2 (You have shown a lot of growth since you first came here, and now I can safely say you are an excellent user who's great all around. :-))
  • Dots (You're a nice guy who will always help out, and a great user all around. ;-))
  • BeepYou (I honestly didn't really think of this guy in that much faith because of his username XD. You're very hardworking and productive, and you are a great guy. Keep up the good work. ;-))

Skill List[edit]

Neutral-Short Range[edit]

I once had a battle with Drill Blaster Mark 2 that handily ended in a loss that proved that I'm awesome at aggressively punishing...but that's all I'm really great at. My slow reaction time and reckless button pressing often means that if I'm up against a Zamus or Marth or even a Sheik/Diddy/Roy, I'm pretty much done for.

Neutral-Long Range[edit]

Somewhat below par here. I can camp somewhat competently, and my spacing/zoning isn't the worst, but unless I'm a Zamus, LucinaMarthRoy, or Bowser/Donkey Kong in custom matches, I can't approach to save my life.

Easily my best area. The main reason I main people like Ganondorf and Little Mac is because I can detect even the slightest mistake and make whoever made it feel deeply sorry for it. Highly above average.

Edge Guard[edit]

Needs work. I'm too cowardly, unable to risk dying, so I can't edgeguard proficiently without a rare hard read.

Usually getting back to the stage is no big deal, but every character is Bowser in my book, if you know what I mean.

Tech Skill[edit]

Skill Competency
Wavedash Able to do it, not able to easily use it for much other than fundamental spacing, lest I'm Luigi.
L-Cancel Able to do it, rarely miss.
Dash Dance Able to do it, not able to do anything with it.
Floor Tech Good at this, rarely miss it. Sometimes I'll accidentally roll into danger though.
Ceiling & Wall Tech Almost never.
Ledge Tech Considering my reaction time, never.
DI I forget to in Melee, and in Smash 4 my DI is poor.
Crouch Cancel I nearly never crouch in Melee, which is the only game it exists in.
Ledge Drop Attack Occasionally.
Power Shield Never.
Proper Roll In Melee, it's impractical, so only in the games after it.
Proper Spot Dodge Not in Melee, but in Smash 4 yes.
Meteor Cancel Never.
Drop Cancel I've never done it and probably never will.
Jab Cancel I don't understand this...
Chain Grab It depends.
SHFFL Most of the time.

I'm also here[edit]

In 64, I main Captain Falcon while messing around with Pikachu, Luigi, and Fox.

In Melee, I main Marth and Ganondorf, and may also use Falco, Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, and Peach.

In Brawl, I main Meta Knight and Marth, while also leaning on Falco, Snake, Lucario, Charizard, Wolf, Fox, Ganondorf, and Bowser.

In Smash 4...lord almighty I love this cast. I main Mewtwo and Greninja with Bowser as my secondary, but I've taken the liberty of analyzing a huge chunk on the cast in as much detail as someone my age can. However, the characters I dabble in more are Mario, Ike, Marth, R.O.B., Luigi, Lucina, Roy, Corrin, Ryu, Cloud, Bayonetta, Little Mac (in particular), and also a little bit of Sheik. I refuse to play Ganondorf if customs are off, but if they're on he immediately jumps to about where Greninja is.

The competency chart is pretty outdated, for the record. But I'm keeping it there because it's still somewhat accurate, at least.

In the two relevant Brawl mods, I can't really say I don't love any character. That said, in Brawl Minus I main Mewtwo by a considerable distance while also likening to Pichu. In Project M, Ganondorf and Mewtwo are pretty close competition as my main, and I also enjoy fooling around with Marth, Snake, and Samus (though I really do adore like half the cast in both games). That is, unless you don't consider that Giga Bowser and Wario-Man are playable in PM because who doesn't like Giga Bowser and Wario-Man?

Competency Chart[edit]

Asked Serpent King for the code for Melee and Brawl and stole the Smash 4 code from Miles of SmashWiki. These charts list the characters in the order I enjoy playing as them, how fluid and free I feel with them, and how well I do with them. A few notes:

1) Apologies for Smash 4 looking different from the others; as mentioned earlier, the Smash 4 chart was taken from MoS, not SK.

2) There are borders between my good and bad characters: Mewtwo is the worst of my good characters in Melee; Ness is the worst of my good characters in 64 and Brawl; Samus is probably the worst of my good characters in Smash 4.

3) This is not a list of my favorite characters, though that is somewhat a factor. If it was based solely on that, Link would be much higher on all three, and Sonic and Shulk would be lower on my Smash 4 list.

4) This is not a tier list, of course. If it were, for example, Dedede, Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Bowser, and Marth would be much lower on the Smash 4 list.

SSB64 Icon.png Character Competency Chart: Smash64 SSB64 Icon.png

Ever since I first started playing, I dashed to get Falcon, my most anticipated character to play as. What I didn't expect is for him to become my favorite character. I mean, this is a game where FALCON PUNCH HAS USE. I didn't like his absence of the Knee, but the sheer comfort I feel playing as him more than compensates. Is it bad that I was actually underwhelmed by Pikachu? I mean duh he's going to be great, with potentially my favorite pre-Smash 4 recovery in the series, but I figured he'd have a bit better kill power. Regardless he still lives up to his notoriety. This one was a huge surprise. I expected to HATE Luigi in every way, but...surprisingly I love him. I prefer his looser, floatier side to Mario's sharper, faster one, mainly because it actually complements his actually decent recovery. He has a ton of kill options, and I feel better playing as him than I ever could have expected. Right off the bat I knew I was going to like Fox. I was a bit underwhelmed by his surprising skill curve in order to take stage control, and that made it a lot harder to win with him. Regardless, you have to respect that up air.

Kirby is a fascinating character. His entire playstyle seems to be "wall of pain for days then fsmash of death", and I actually really like it. My one problem is his up air. I can't believe I'm saying this, but switching it for Melee's bicycle kick was WAY better. I do prefer Luigi's looser playstyle, but I still like playing as Mario, probably more so than any other installment. I don't hate Donkey Kong, but I am super apathetic to him. He isn't a damage knife like in Brawl or a killing machine like in Smash 4, but I'd say he's a fair bit better than Melee here. Then again, only Fox, Samus, and Jigglypuff really aren't.

Per DK, except I can't even play him that well. He's so awkward. Per DK and Yoshi. I don't hate Samus like I was expecting to, but that isn't to say she's good. She's still a weird combination of a floaty with a bad recovery, and the inability to 0-death is crucial. Tie this with Link because Jigglypuff is abysmal. Not only do you have do deal with the lack of a proper recovery like in the other games, she is LIGHTER than in the other games (the lightest in the series) and her final two jumps don't even give her height. I got exactly what I was expecting with Link. Completely useless, I can't stand playing as him nor can I play as him to begin with.

SSBM Icon.png Character Competency Chart: Melee SSBM Icon.png

No items Marth only Final Destination is more like it. Seriously, he feels amazing to play as. He's fast, able to zone and space even beyond my regular abilities as a player, has a low enough learning curve for me to surpass, and has combos know. Wow. A game where Ganon actually has an APPROACH. And a useful GRAB GAME. And marginal MOBILITY to match his power. It's a miracle and it makes playing as him cathartic. Probably the character with the most moves I can name out for liking to use in particular besides Captain Falcon...even if his recovery and f-air aren't really good, also even if he physically hurts to play is.. Such a free little character. If only his recovery were any good.

Air game and recovery are borderline miraculous and combos into Rest really flatter my playstyle. Dreamland 64 is unloseable for me. I just wish its ground game in general could make up for it. She's pretty reliant on her air game, recovery, and down smash to do anything for me, but that goes a long way. Nice and average, makes me feel at ease whenever I play as him.. However, he doesn't feel powerful like he does in Smash 4. Also is it just me or does the lack of buffering in Melee make a particular difference for Mario? I don't really enjoy playing as him because of his bad f-air and him being absolutely hand cancer to play as, but yeah he's earned his reputation. I'm a sucker for a good guaranteed zero-death, especially when it's as easy to execute. And yet, her recovery doesn't do anything for me. I feel him a little less than Mario. A bit stronger not really, a bit slower not really, he's a good character, but his recovery... Nothing really bad about this character: she has good power, decent speed, and an excellent recovery. However, she feels a little bit disjointed from the cast: no one else is really a zoner. She feels wonky in this game, even though this is the only game where she is any good.. Recovery isn't the worst, and I really like the almost guaranteed chaingrab they have here. But their physics throw me off.

A gimmick character, plain and simple. I'd use him for friendlies, for flashiness, for up-throw kills, and for chaingrabs, but that's it. Good recovery, good power, good zoning (wow two zoning characters), and of course, dthrow upB. His mobility is a bit lacking though.. A character I would play in friendlies above most other cgaracters, but he is unarguably the most poorly designed character in the game. He's a shadow of his Smash 64 self, let's be honest. His recovery has been cut in half pretty much (although still very good) and his reach doesn't exist. And yet, I still enjoy using him. He's fast, powerful, and can run circles around most characters. This is where I start not really liking the characters, which is a shame when you consider how much I surprisingly liked Luigi in Smash 64. I mean he's still a good joke character, but he's so badly designed in the air and so reliant on his wavedash that I can't get into him. Nothing to say here.

His down smash is pretty useful, especially in a vacuum. I mean it's not enough to redeem his absolutely horrendous offstage and OOS capabilities (lack thereof), but it's good. A lumbering clunk of a character that I get no joy out of whatsoever. Abysmal design, high risk-low reward, and not even a particularly cool character. No unique style besides his utter lack of aerial game/recovery. Proof that Melee was rushed. His files are literally broken, and they absolutely kill my enjoyment of him.

One of the most awkward, unpleasant characters in any video game ever. Do I need to say anything? Ok, the character I like playing as the least in Melee. Absolutely terrible. No speed, power, recovery, or approach. I don't like playing as him in the slightest.

SSBB Icon.png Character Competency Chart: Brawl SSBB Icon.png

Obligatory. Nothing's really changed since Melee. If anything I'd say he's even more fluid, enjoyable, and easy to play as than before. But I don't think the physics changes did a lot for him, neither for me. I've been asked many times why I main Ganondorf even though I have said that I despise him as a character. And idk, tbh. It could be pity, it could be that he flatters my playstyle more than pretty much any other character...maybe both. Great character design, so many moves that I can make such disgustingly great use of. His mobility, however, does sorta throw me off, and not in a good way. Seriously, Brawl was great with designing the movesets and styles of the cast. Its aura isn't so much of a gimmick as it is a finishing touch to its insanely fast game that makes him perfect for my sort of aggressive hit-and-run-and-wait style. Aura does become a gimmick when it's basically the only way he can land KOs at all, though. Probably the coolest character in the game, and one that's unbelievably versatile. If he wasn't so slow I might main him.

Unlike Melee or Smash 4, not only do I enjoy playing as him, he feels solid and I have the potential to win against human players with him. Needs a little bit of a better recovery. He feels so much better in this game than Melee. He is not unreasonably slow (though still very sluggish) and still has power. His recovery was not fixed though, and they butchered Whirling Fortress's offensive use. Very good character, solid speed, decent recovery, and excellent camping abilities. His power, reach, and grab game left something to be desired however. Chaingrab setup into a Thunder is so satisfying. Aerials haven't changed tjough. To this day I still love laser locking, and dair still has uses despite being nerfed. However, they took away shine (though that made him hand cancer to play) and fair is an even more annoying to have to rely on. My favorite version of Fox: unlike Melee, he doesn't make my hands ache, and unlike Smash 4, speed isn't all he has. The worst recovery of the three though. Ftilt Bair DAIR! However, he has no recovery and fair is so annoyingly landing laggy. I miss wobbling and they didn't fix their recovery. Everything else about them is pretty good though. One of the longest distance recoveries in Brawl and good speed and power. I simply just don't play him a lot: he is pretty bland. TONS of bananas. I hate his recovery and lack of power however.

Weaving in and out with fair and dair is fun. Needs a better recovery though. Awesome smashes and his aerials are fun to use. However his recovery is not that good and his aerials are really bad, I find him underrated with his speed and power. Bad recovery though. I probably enjoy her as much if not slightly more than I did in Smash 4, her moves just feel less like a chore to master and she has some genuinely fantastic kill moves. Kinda weak outside of that though. IYes there's the Trainer gimmick but I'd be lying if I said Rock Smash wasn't one of my favorite moves in the series. Great character all around. Even his gimmicks are fun and awesome to use. Shame he basically just asks to be punished on hit. One of the only characters to actually have a worse recovery than in Melee. Eh, she's still a great joke charact. His stellar recovery and air game would probably make him a top tier character id it wasn't for the fact that it's impossible to land kills with him. I like how buffering has helped him, but this is still my least favorite iteration of him. Agile heavyweight that hates going upwards. Top 3 in the game? Okay that's extreme, mainly because his recovery and the fact that he's extremely inconsistent across the board. Other than that...yeah I'd say he deserves his reputation.

His painfully decent style is dragged down by the Trainer gimmick. Somehow worse than in Melee. He's at all usable, which automatically makes him better than Melee. However, usable is still far from good. F-air and n-air. Other than that....he's not even fun. You know, this guy is really good if your opponent is mentally retarded at offense and edgeguarding. See Ike, only weaker, with less range, the same speed if not slower and a worse recovery. Good at aggressive chip damage which means she should flatter my style, but in order to do that you need a kill move. Kinda like Sheik except he isn't really even good for racking up damage.

Still terrible design. Tall, floaty, light, slow, with attacks that are not strong enough to make up for their lack of speed. Nonexistent landing lag isn't an excuse when your entire moveset is garbage. Possibly the character I dislike playing the most in Brawl. They took everything away that was good about it in Melee, and no fundamental issues were fixed. Part of the Trainer, with no grab game, no recovery, with some of the slowest moves in the game, and none except up smash (which you might never use) being strong enough to make up for it. I don't like a single thing about her good in any sense of the word.

Smash 4[edit]

Character Competency Chart -- SSB4 Edition

I prefer Melee Ganon over Brawl (obviously), but Brawl's general physics (buffering, magentic ledges, etc.) flatter me more. What happens when you roughly combine them? A character that is still terrible but one of my favorite characters in the series. Vicious punisher and I'm actually not bad at aggression with him. It's even better when you can alleviate his recovery, his biggest weakness, with customs. Man I love this guy. Never would have seen the day where a character is as good as they are cool. Probably my main in non-custom matches, although I find it a bit hard to play defensively as it should be played. You could say he's my favorite universal character in Smash. I still feel pretty free and dominant when I use him, even if customs don't add THAT much.. I feel like the best Mac player on For Glory. This does not need explaining. (Customs are absolutely terrible btw) I still use Bowser unbelievably well, especially with his customs giving him even more lomg-range and approach options, but he's no early 3DS days anymore. Still easily my favorite iteration of him.. Where to begin? She's extremely flashy, is an absolute beast offensively, and is immaculate when comboing. My playstyle is just aggressive enough so that I can cope for her abysmal defense. I wasn't hyped for him at first, but he grew to be a character I dearly enjoy using. He's absurdly fun to play as and has a bunch of ridiculous moves (Upair OP plz nerf). However, Limit Break's usefulness was gravely disappointing, and he isn't the easiest character to play as. Combo god even after the nerf, even with his learning curve. No explanation needed. Fun to play as, with a lot of power and mobility to boot, a vast left turn from Melee. Just don't go offstage. A scrub slayer that I can actually play seriously. How about that. The character you would never expect became DLC. So he's really fun to play as, is very scary, and scrubs are no match for me on the Wii U. However, he is really difficult to play as, especially with the 3DS's gimped controls. Corrin is a complicated character. I don't hate himher like Omega Tyrant yet don't love himher like DatNuttyKid. Heshe's flashy and viable enough for hype value, but not unique enough for replayability. Corrin is not hateable by any stretch of the mind, but...heshe feels like merely a combination of Marth and Roy then add a projectile.

He's not a good character by any stretch. But he is fun. Very fun. And that's enough. As someone who has never liked Link, this game did him huge justices by actually letting him move. On the ground at least. The kind of character I do well with that you wouldn't expect me to with as shoddy an archetype as she has. I like using him, he's incredibly viable and fun to play as, but he lacks what made him so special in Brawl. I used to main Greninja, and I consider maining it again. However, as of now, it's attacks are the slowest in endlag and it means I get punished for free usually. Customs aren't that noteworthy either beyond exceptions. I pocket him, and I utilize his rushdown capabilities to the fullest. With customs on, one of his few weaknesses is addressed: recovery. I wish the Knee Smash was good in any sense though. I still like him even after he got nerfed, and he's even better with customs on. It's best if you stay onstage though. Who would have known that someone could go from both weak and sluggish to doing stuff like the Beep Boop and Robo Ken Combo even before customs are considered? Even if he is a bit floaty. As much as me and my brother both like this character and think he is still somewhat viable, there's no denying how much he got gutted. Can't tell whether I do well with her or not, even with literally everything about her being fixed from Brawl. Besides endurance, obviously. My brother's main and his recovery does me favors no matter what. However his grab is a bit too slow.

I work well with his quick in-and-out game, and his customs are fine, but his recovery... I've come around on this character a lot over the past few months. Still a bit too fast and intricate for me, but still. If it wasn't for the fact that this guy is a walking punching bag, he'd probably be in the top tier. Maybe on top with customs on. A character that I have to voluntarily decide whether I want to play as. The fact that I usually decide to should say a lot. How do you make such a stereotypically average character so great, so simple and yet so complex?. Again, nothing to say. I liked WFT before 1.1.0, but after it I started to do really well with him, especially with Jumbo Hoop equipped. Some hitbox placements are still awkward though. My favorite version of Ness. Nothing bad about him besides his recovery and up/down smashes. See Ness. Sorry, but having to be even more close range than with Marth isn't my thing when I have such a lacking neutral-short game. Good, not great. I used to have him just above Pac-Man, and then he helped me beat Classic on 9.0 without losing a life, so I guess we were meant for each other? I like Fox. He's usable. But that's it. He's way more balanced than in Brawl, so I probably like him the tiniest bit more. This is the perfect example of my performance =/= my enjoyment. I do well with him, but don't like him. At all. What happened to him? I mean he's decently playable but like...

I used to hate using this character -- a lot -- but then I started playing him like he should be played, then I realized he isn't really awful for me, just mediocre. One if the most astonishingly mediocre characters ever. CK Dash. Closer to Melee than Brawl. Ugh. I harbor a lot more hatred for this character than I probably should. I just don't care about her. Sluggish aura-heavy gimmick. Borderline destroyed in the transition. That all star challenge is a joke. Cool enough a character, but my gameplay with him is next to laughable. As per Shulk, except I feel like in this game Sonic was even more specifically designed to annoy me. Weird how a character so diverse in style can be so underwhelming, boring, and difficult to play as.

Yeah he's still probably the worst character in the game with customs on. Trophy Rush. He's still one of the most infuriating characters to ever exist in a game. You could make the extremely credible argument that there are worse characters than Falco that I put higher, but none leave me as hollow and underwhelmed whenever I play as them like this slog of a character does. Somehow even more terribly designed and badly thought out than Melee or Brawl. Horrendous character, the absolute worst especially with customs. Not fun, not viable, not cool, not even a good scrub slayer. Useless.
