Proposal discussion[edit]

Support, as nom.

Support, although this is less "neutral tone" and more "back up everything with evidence". Ganonmew, The Evil Clone 19:01, 2 July 2017 (EDT)

I favor the policy itself, but we might want to merge with Words to Watch instead, as these policies seem to cover a lot of common ground. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 15:56, 3 July 2017 (EDT)

Despite the considerable common ground, I intended for NPoV to be a policy, whereas Words to Watch is to be a guideline. NPoV is something that SmashWiki should strictly adhere to; Words to Watch is a way to help users adhere to it.

I get what you're saying, but in that case, the policy reads a just a bit too much like a guideline for my taste. It should read less "here's what to do" and more like "this should be done" IMO. That's more of a nitpick, though, so weak support. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 16:07, 3 July 2017 (EDT)

Comments[edit]

This is somewhat of a sister proposal to SmashWiki:Manual of Style/Words to Watch. As a future reference, in the event one or both of the proposals passes, there are some bits of invisible text on both pages that may need to be made visible.

Furthermore, if this policy is to be accepted, it is to entirely replace SmashWiki:Neutral tone guide.

Bumping this.

Passing this late tomorrow if no one has anything more to say. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 13:41, 12 July 2017 (EDT)

If you do so, can you pass Words to Watch at about the same time?

There's a little bit more debate there as far as I can tell, so I'd say to wait a couple more days and see if anyone has any more points to make. Nyargleblargle.pngNyargleblargle (Contribs) 23:31, 12 July 2017 (EDT)

Move proposal[edit]

Oppose, on the basis that this is the NAME of a policy, and already abbreviates as NPoV. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 20:15, 12 February 2018 (EST)

Support, I've had time to think more about this, and reading the other votes below has also changed my stance on this. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 19:29, 27 February 2018 (EST)

Oppose I don't even......why? Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 04:35, 13 February 2018 (EST) Support, new evidence has come to light, so I now support as per Aidanzapunk. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 09:55, 16 February 2018 (EST)

Oppose. Not so much of doing it properly but more like why are capitalization of titles such a big deal? I'm getting tired of this title correction moves, it just gets confusing. MHStarCraft 60% tech skill, 30% crazy, 10% you name it. :P 15:17, 13 February 2018 (EST)

Neutral leaning towards Support I don't believe changing the name to account for no caps is really a big deal, but it would make it consistent with the rest of the policies. Pokebub (talk) 00:32, 14 February 2018 (EST)

Support All of the other pages are named this way. Aidan, the Lovely Rurouni 09:45, 16 February 2018 (EST)

Support Consistent with the Manual of Style, and all the other policies are named this way. The Template:Helpnav already lists this in lowercase as well. In addition, other policies like SW:AGF are abbreviated in caps, even though they are spelled as lowercase. Abbreviations are written in caps to make them easier to read, not necessarily as a reflection of the correct capitalization of the full-length title.
