SmashWiki talk:Article of the Week

From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Here is where you can discuss what the upcoming Articles of the Week should be. Next week's article needs to be chosen, so discuss here!

NOTE: It would be better if we got ahead of schedule on the Articles of the Week - this means we should have both more nominations and more votes. You may vote for more than one article at a time.

Rules for Selection[edit]

  • Any user may nominate an article for selection as Article of the Week.
  • Other users shall vote on whether it is well-written enough to merit being featured on the Main Page. You may suggest improvements to the article during this process.
  • If the vote results in a general consensus for the article's selection, a sysop may select the article to appear as a future Article of the Week.
  • Any number of articles may be up for a vote simultaneously.
  • Once an article is either featured as article of the week or is determined to have failed the vote, its nomination shall be moved to an appropriate subpage.

These rules are tentative and can be changed if necessary.

Current votes[edit]

Against- Not much has changed from last time it was nominated. All the "yous" are gone but it still reads like an awkward pamphlet. -Thores 07:56, June 26, 2007 (EDT)
Abstain - The main problem is the multiple translations now. -- Randall00 Talk 09:30, June 26, 2007 (EDT)
Against - Agreed to Thores. Smiddle ( TalkConts ) 11:56, June 26, 2007 (EDT)
For - The GSC article was previously nominated for AotW? wow i didnt even know. Also, I don't see how there is any problem with the article. It doesn't look like a pamphlet to me and how is it being in multiple languages a problem? Its not like we would have trouble deciding what language to use as the AotW.--Simna ibn Sind 03:44, June 30, 2007 (EDT)
Nom & For: This page is what I believe an example of how an article on a real-world item that appears in a Smash Bros. game should look like; it starts with an intro picture, then a section describing the item as it appeared and influenced the real world, then delves into its every appearance in the Smash Bros. series, much like a Universe article. The description of the Super Scope as a Melee item is fully converted into prose from its original form as a bulleted list, which was apparently what other users want happen to all bulleted lists on the site. Erik the Appreciator 14:23, June 28, 2007 (EDT)
For: Seems pretty good. --WaluigiIsAwesome 00:26, June 30, 2007 (EDT)
Against: parts of the text (intro, portions of Item Description) are direct copies from Wikipedia's article. Would support except for those. --nealdt 02:15, June 30, 2007 (EDT)

  • Jigglypuff (SSB) - Nom and tentative for: Well, if Luigi made it, why not Jigglypuff? Admittedly it's not of the same quality and Luigi's page was more of a "we need something dammit" thing, but it's close. --Greenblob 21:21, July 5, 2007 (EDT)
  • Weak For --WaluigiIsAwesome 23:02, July 24, 2007 (EDT)
  • For - We haven't had a real nominated article for a good month. The last couple Article of the Weeks were picked by random users, so it would be nice to see a nominated article be featured. -- The Magnum Master 23:54, July 31, 2007 (EDT)

  • My Music: This page exemplifies the ideals and principals of the music within Brawl itself. This would prove to be really helpful with smashers and trying to find out the background of Music.
  • Strong For Very Good Article which needs to be shown. Zmario 11:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Shadow Moses Island - Nom and for - This is what a SmashWiki articles should look like. All the necessary information--not too much, not too little. I'd at least be looking to "feature" this one. Not sure what the difference is 'round here. --RJM Talk 00:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
