I have extra reason to believe the latter considering the original version was a commercial failure, especially given that version's very high budget for a Famicom/NES game and the fact that first run copies of the game completely selling out wasn't even enough to cover the advertising budget; this is especially noticeable as this version was released in 1991, just a year before HAL had any sort of successful franchise with ''Kirby''. The SNES remake came out in 2000, and by that time, HAL had some pretty good successes such as the ''Kirby'' games and the original ''Super Smash Bros.''; and considering the remake doesn't look too different from the original Famicom game (the remake looks more-or-less like a cleaner version of the original game), not to mention that Famicom's limitations was what made the original version very expensive to produce in the first place, I have a hard time believing that the remake's failure specifically was the contribute to HAL's serious financial troubles. Metal Slader Glory

Do you have a source claiming that the failure of Metal Slader Glory's Super Famicom remake gave HAL Labs huge financial troubles? Because from what I can tell on several sources I can find, it was the original Famicom version whose failure almost bankrupt the company.

I have extra reason to believe the latter considering the original version was a commercial failure, especially given that version's very high budget for a Famicom/NES game and the fact that first run copies of the game completely selling out wasn't even enough to cover the advertising budget; this is especially noticeable as this version was released in 1991, just a year before HAL had any sort of successful franchise with Kirby. The SNES remake came out in 2000, and by that time, HAL had some pretty good successes such as the Kirby games and the original Super Smash Bros.; and considering the remake doesn't look too different from the original the Famicom game (the remake looks more-or-less like a cleaner version of the original game), not to mention that Famicom's limitations was what made the original version very expensive to produce in the first place, I have a hard time believing that the remake's failure specifically was the contribution to HAL's serious financial troubles.
