Uppercut (アッパー, Upper) is a special move used by Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont. The user ascends while slashing with their whip, hitting multiple times.

Origin

Richter using his High Jump in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

This move is based on the High Jump ability which was introduced to the Castlevania series in Symphony of the Night. In that game, after Alucard obtains the Gravity Boots, he can perform this maneuver with the inputs ↓, ↑ + [JUMP]. When playing in Richter Mode, Richter can perform this without obtaining the relic, attacking on the way up. It can be performed multiple times in the air. Various characters are capable of utilizing either variation, though it is primarily wielders of the Vampire Killer that use the uppercut.
