GYKO is an New Zealand smasher known for using many different characters. He first started Super Smash Bros when SSBM was released but it was not until Brawl's release in 2008 when he started to play at a higher level.
SpeedyJ, formerly J$ and Gyko, is a New Zealand smasher who mains Captain Falcon.

However he is probably most known for his contributions towards building a Smash community in the Marriland forums. He is also one of the few, if not the only representative for his country internationally.
He consistently performed well in New Zealand tournaments during the resurgence of New Zealand Smash in 2014 and is widely regarded as one of the country's top smashers.

When SpeedyJ first played Melee, he originally mained Samus.  He picked up Marth when he decided to start taking the game seriously in 2010 before eventually settling with Captain Falcon in 2015.

When GYKO first played Melee, he did not even own the game and first mained Samus. He obtained the game in 2009 and now he currently plays a range of characters namely Marth, Sheik, Fox, Falco, Dr. Mario and Jigglypuff. He does not enter tournaments for Melee due to the diminishing Smash community and Melee's outdatedness.

GYKO picked up Super Smash Bros Brawl on its release and continued to play Samus, his main at the time, until he was persuaded by "his friend to pick up Mr. Game & Watch". He continued to play Mr. Game & Watch for the duration of 2008 and 2009 before trying to pick up King Dedede as his main and shortly after "every character in the game" per Chsal's description.

His most notable characters include Snake, Lucario, Marth, King Dedede, Mr. Game & Watch, ROB, Falco, Olimar and Pit.

As of 2010, GYKO does not play in any tournaments as there are none available although continues to play with his friends while seeking the competitive Smash seen.
