Raynex is a Super Smash Bros. Melee player from Toronto, Canada. He known as one of the country's premiere Fox players, and was a fixture in the North American competitive scene between 2007-2018.

Biography

As one of the founding members of the East Coast Canadian smash ecosystem, Raynex has been involved in grassroots communities since he was a teenager. He began competing at 16 years old, seeking out local community centers and highschools in Toronto that were hosting tournaments. After a year honing his skills at locally, he set his sights on what lay beyond Canada. At 17 years old he began travelling, competing in New York, Massachusetts, Atlanta, Michigan, Pittsburg, Baltimore, and Kansas all before he turned 22. Raynex's experiences travelling inevitably led to numerous tournament wins in Toronto - but the community also benefitted from this invigorating, outside influence. With his doubles teammate and highschool classmate Ryan Ford, and Sheik phenom KirbyKaze as training partners, the rest of North America began to wake up to skilled players coming out of the frigid North.

Raynex was the first-ever dual-sponsored player in Canada, competing in SSBM and Street Fighter simultaneously at major events. Raynex has accumulated tournament wins in his tenure, including the likes of Hungrybox, N0ne, Kage, KoreanDJ, KirbyKaze, and Colbol. In SSBM, Raynex peaked at #1 in Canada (2012) and 51st on the world rankings (2014).

Present

Raynex no longer competes professionally, but is still a fixture in the smash and fighting game communities.
