Greetings all, I am the artist formerly known as Oxico and currently known as Toymaker's Creation. I would like to talk today about the Moveset sections on the fighter pages. While perusing through the many fighter pages on this wiki, I noticed a lack of uniformity amongst the Moveset sections. This inconsistency exists throughout the games, and is particularly bad in the Melee and Brawl pages. However, I would like to focus on standardizing the Moveset section for Smash 4 fighter pages first, so that this clear standard can then be applied to the previous games. Some pages utilize a table-based format, that includes designated spaces for the names of the attacks, the damage the attacks deal, and a description of the attack. However, a majority of other pages utilize a bulleted format. There was a short discussion previously held regarding this topic, and I wanted to open it to public discussion. Which moveset should be the standard?

I for one favor the bulleted format. The tables tend to squish certain information and understanding what each column represents is difficult once the top of the table is scrolled past. The bulleted movesets also have the information broken down into particular sections, grouping similar moves together and making location a specific one simple and easy. The extra information (including the "move names", most of which are unofficial and unnecessary, I think) present on tables can just be broken down in extra bullets, like this:

  • Side smash: "Move Name" - Move description.
    • Damage dealt by the move
    • Description of knockback (if necessary/pertinent)
    • Type of damage dealt (present on certain Brawl movesets)
    • Any misc. information

So, yes. I hope we can come to some sort of consensus on this topic so that the edits that are necessary can be made as soon as possible. Toymaker's Creation VelEye.png "Thank you for your contribution." 18:02, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

I believe the {{MovesetTable}} format is vastly superior as it offloads everything but base damage and short description to the subpage network, leaving just basic information on the character page and preventing it from becoming too bloated.
