Unlocking event matches
There are a total of 51 event matches in Melee but most event matches aren't available at the start of the game. By successfully completing all previously accesible event matches, you'll be able to gain access to higher numbered ones.
To unlock event matches 31 - 39, you'll need to unlock the Young Link, Jigglypuff, Luigi, and Falco characters.
To unlock event matches 40 - 50, you'll need to unlock Mr. Game and Watch (which means unlocking all other charaters as well).
To unlock event match 51, you'll need to complete event matches 1 through 50.
