Introduction to me

YES, I MAIN THE WORST CHARACTER IN THE GAME. I KNOW SHE GOT CRIPPLED BY PATCH 1.1.1, I KNOW SHE'S NOT POPULAR NEITHER AT A HIGH-LEVEL PLAY NOR AT A LOW- OR MID-LEVEL, AND SHE'LL POSSIBLY WON'T GET BUFFED, AND I STILL MAIN HER. S'up everybody, my name is Edward and I'm just your average smasher. My favorite videogame universes in general would be the Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Game & Watch, Kid Icarus and Final Fantasy. I've been playing the Smash Bros. series since Melee came out (though it's been a long time since then, and I'm very bad at this game), though I started to play competitively since SSB4 came out, maining mai waifu, Lady Palutena, since the very beginning. I regularly watch streams from VGBootCamp, CLASH Tournaments, Most Valuable Gaming or Tourney Locator, mainly Melee and SSB4 streams.

My region is pretty new to the SSB4 scene, with only our best players having to travel outside of the region to smash it out on other places like Jalisco or Mexico City. Though there have been more Smash tournaments, and I've been a regular sight since then. I'm considered in my region to be one of the best Palutena players, and possibly the only one that uses her competitively, employing a playstyle that focuses a bit more on feinting reckless choices with her (though I pivot grab much less often) and wait until the opponent reacts to that so they drop their guard and I can make my move, instead of directly deciding to turtle or "shield at close range" so I can find and opening. You could say that I still play defensive but want the opponent to do the same so I can be aggresive. the I combine that with all my options such as B-reversed Autoreticle, Reflect Barrier, and the ocassional ledge-cancelled Warp. So far, it works.

While I no longer play Melee, it's very hype to watch sets from Melee players, and that's why I also watch Melee streams as well.

  • Lady Palutena, which is the girl on one of my templates below, is my favorite Nintendo girl and mai waifu, and I'm proud of it (other girls I really like include Rosie, but actually I have few skill to play her alongside my other characters).
  • I do not have a set schedule to play.
  • My favorite Nintendo character for life is Mr. Game & Watch (which is the reason my username is BeepYou, because of his "beeps").
  • My most hated Nintendo character is Olimar, because his reliance on a very small and frail race is too much.
  • I literally have no money for a Wii U, so if you want to play against me, it'll have to be on the 3DS. Sorry.
  • Even so, I have all the custom moves unlocked and all the trophies in the 3DS version.
  • I love everyone in this wiki. I consider Disaster Flare, Ganonmew and Drill B. to be my friends.

  • I don't want to be a rollbacker unlike fellow users Drill B. or Ganonmew since I just edit this wiki for the sake of doing so, meaning there are not daily edits from me, I usually take breaks from the wiki (that means I'm semi-active).

Below is a table of my favorite characters to play whenever I do it. Actually, I am able to play the majority of the cast at a decent level. Also, this is my own version of this table, so while the concept is similar to it, it is still not stolen from Toomai.

Notes

  • I have used Lady Palutena, Mr. Game & Watch, Ike, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf and the Miis since the very beginning, and haven't stopped playing as them. I have also used Roy since he first was released (because Melee hype ;] ).
  • Some of my old and most played characters were Toon Link (who I ironically play worse han Link), Greninja and Little Mac.
  • I played as Link and Mega Man in the demo but stopped playing as them because I loved to play more as my mains when I got the full version.
  • I do like Rosie outside of Smash, but I dislike her playstyle and as a result, I play her mediocrely. Same with Mega Man (as mentioned above).
  • I dislike playing against Wario, but I actually play him than others like Pikachu. He is also fun to play as.
  • Nairo indirectly convinced me of playing Dr. Mario.
  • Although I sometimes play the character (though this is just for troll purpouses), I dislike playing against Ness because he is braindead (he has a low learning curve to play him decently) and has a lot of people that main him.
  • Similar to Ness, even though I sometimes play the character (though this is just for troll purpouses), I dislike playing against Zero Suit Samus because she is braindead (she has a low learning curve to play her decently), she can easily be disrespectful to you and because she has a lot of people that main her! I do not dislike people that main her tho, and I actually like the character a lot outside of Smash.

If patch 1.1.3 was released...

This is what I would want for Palu so she would be more balanced (this includes nerfing her customs). I know it's a lot but remember Shulk and Ike were heavily buffed by updates:

  •   Jab comes out faster (frame 8 → frame 5).
  •   Forward tilt has reduced startup lag (16 → 13 frames) and decreased endlag (29 → 26 frames).
  •   Up tilt has additional hitboxes below her staff, so small characters can no longer avoid the move.
  •   Down tilt has reduced startup (13 → 10 frames) and can now hit ledge hanging opponents.
  •   Down tilt's sweetspot deals slightly less damage (8.5 → 8%).
  •   Dash attack has drastically reduced endlag (35 → 27 frames).
  •   Forward smash's hitbox has a slightly longer duration (2 → 3 frames) and has less endlag (48 → 39 frames).
  •   Up smash has less ending lag (43 frames → 40 frames).
  •   Down smash's has an added hitbox on the tip of the wings (letting it hit opponents on the ledge). The late hit also lasts for 1 more frame. It also has much less endlag (53 → 41 frames).
  •   Clean hit of down smash has less knockback growth (103 → 99).
  •   Clean hit of down smash's angle changed (60° → 45°).
  •   Neutral air now autocancels in a short hop.
  •   Neutral air has increased base knockback (20 → 75).
  •   Neutral air has an added hitbox on landing that does 1%. This removes her possible setups into other moves but makes the move harder to punish upon her landing.
  •   Forward air has less endlag (34 → 25 frames).
  •   Back air is stronger (30/92 → 42/98) and has reduced endlag (41 → 32 frames).
  •   Up air now properly autocancels in the last frames (frame 64 → 36) and has reduced landing lag (24 → 20 frames). Finishing hit also deals 1% more *damage (9 → 10%).
  •   Up air has less knockback growth (152 → 140).
  •   Down air now lasts for longer (frame 10 → frame 9-11) and autocancels earlier (frame 48 → 38).
  •   Back throw is stronger (65/70 → 70/75) and its angle has been changed (Sakurai angle → 45°).
  •   Autorecticle's projectiles target the opponent for more time (frame 8 → frames 8-10), and come out faster (frames 30/36/42 → 24/30/36).
  •   Reflect Barrier has less endlag (48 → 36 frames) with the barrier's reflecting time unchanged, letting her move out of it.
  •   Super Speed's cooldown time increased (3 → 5 seconds).
  •   Warp has an added windbox that pushes opponents away from frame 10-16.
  •   Jump Glide lasts for a shorter time.
  •   Jump Glide no longer leaves Palutena helpless should she be hit during the move.
  •   Counter has lost the sourspot it previously had, and the attack has more KO power (40/75 → 48/100). It also has less ending lag if it fails (44 → 25 frames) and if it connects.
  •   Lightweight's reverse effect time increased (5 seconds → 7 seconds), though its cooldown time was reduced to compensate (10 seconds → 8 seconds.)
  •   Like Pit, she now has "comical" sound effects instead of "realistic" ones when she trips.
