Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature. Long explanations for your vote are discouraged, as they are unnecessary (a vote is worth the same regardless of its reasoning), and they inflate the size of an already large page.
  2. You can vote only once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to follow this rule; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may vote only in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and take effect only when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things such as "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already large page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Your vote will also be considered a half-vote if your edit causes someone else's valid vote to break one of these rules. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Multiple votes are not allowed; attempts to circumvent this with sockpuppets will result in your vote being discounted entirely, and is a blockable offense. Probated users who attempt to circumvent their probation with sockpuppets are also committing a blockable offense and will have their vote discounted. Remember that admins have access to CheckUser to check the IPs of any user, and will use it when sockpuppetry is suspected.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.

Above all, remember that voting in the Smash Arena is a privilege, not a right. In the vein of what SmashWiki is not, you are expected to at least attempt reasonable contributions to the wiki if you wish to retain your privilege to participate.

Round 193: Kirby (SSBM) vs. Pichu (SSBM)

Kirby SSBM.jpg
Winner!!
undecided

Pichu SSBM.jpg
These two pals just can't get it together in Melee's tournament scene, having been fumbled around in the bottom quarter of characters for the game's entire lifespan. One of these two will move on to represent Melee in a future low-tier showdown - who will it be?

Votes for Kirby (SSBM)

  1. Kirby is my favorite fictional character ever. --Dinoboy411 (talk) 12:27, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
  2. KIRBY IS THE BEST!!!!!!!! --Kirbyman (talk) 13:33, 29 June 2013 (EDT)

Votes for Pichu (SSBM)

  1. First vote :P Anyway Pichu is quite fun to use even though it's really hard to do well with him. Scr7Wolfsig.png 12:09, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
  2. Pichu's probably my favourite character in the Smash series. Not to play as, just the character. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 12:14, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
  3. Pichu is the cutest thing ever! Also, finally mine got picked! Woo!Luke5176 (talk) 12:24, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
  4. True Kirby is my third favorite Nintendo character but Pichu is the pre evolution of my favorite Pokémon, Pikachu. Plus this is a sympathy vote. Dots MewtwoMS.png The Lamp 12:39, 29 June 2013 (EDT)

Round 192: Reflector vs. PSI Magnet

Fox Reflector.jpg
Winner!!
Reflector

NessMagnet.jpg
The quintessential reflection and absorption moves. Which projectile-countering technique will turn away the competition and catch the victory?

Votes for Reflector

  1. I actually don't use either technique, so I'm voting for Reflector because Star Fox characters use them.71.105.121.171 23:45, 21 June 2013 (EDT)
  2. I believe the morning sun. Always gonna shine again and. Dots MewtwoMS.png The EarthBound 23:48, 21 June 2013 (EDT)
  3. Best move in Melee hands down.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 00:27, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  4. Stuff and stuff DoctorPain99 01:04, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  5. Shine combos FTW Scr7Wolfsig.png 03:17, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  6. Can PSI Magnet protect you from non-energy projectiles? ...yeah, I didn't think so! 67.166.229.4 11:50, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  7. If you can't absorb an enemy thrown at you in a Mario Bros. stage, a Reflector is what you truly need.-Kaizer24.185.135.102 20:18, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  8. You reflect almost every attack when someone tries to attack you! Giratina 720Giratina720.png 00:00, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
  9. If only the move was a one-framer. LightningBlue405MS.png 00:41, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
  10. The reflector can deal damage, so it's defensive and offensive! Bulbaking (talk) 14:20, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
  11. Beast move in Melee. Naked Snake 200px-Naked Snake.jpg 22:40, 23 June 2013 (EDT)
  12. Good move with Falco 71.101.104.26 20:52, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
  13. Shine combos, that's all. Smash Master.exe 02:22, 25 June 2013 (EDT)
  14. Reflector. Useful for fooling fools in smash. Superstarxalien169's smashbox. (talk) 17:20, 25 June 2013 (EDT)
  15. My older brother once fooled me so badly when he reflected next to me when I was younger. I thought that he was invincible for as long as he held the reflector up. I think the match might have been timed out, or I discovered it was a trick, but I don't remember. Plus, the reflector is mure useful. BlueRidiculous 21:04, 26 June 2013 (EDT)
  16. I don't really use either, but I like reflector way more than PSI Magnet Sonicmario22 (talk) 08:16, 27 June 2013 (EDT)
  17. I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE GRAVE ONCE AGAIN. Also, no matter how many times i've used PSI Magnet, i've never seen it do anything. The Reflector is useful because it not only reflects projectiles, but also does close-range damage. --Fireemblemlogo.pngFan275 03:00, 29 June 2013 (EDT)

Votes for PSI Magnet

  1. Lucas is currently my best character and being able to heal is invaluable. Casundrud (talk) 08:12, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  2. I choose PSI magnet more or less because you heal from the shot when if reflected can be avoided by guarding fast, jumping or sidestepping.70.24.174.249 09:30, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  3. Earthbound. Terrible is Ready for Summer 10:09, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
  4. In Earthbound this is actually a pretty useful move, though in Smash its applications are limited. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 13:12, 22 June 2013 (EDT)
