Below is a table of my favorite characters to play whenever I choose them. Despite usually sticking to two or three, I am able to play the majority of the cast at least at a decent level. Also, this is KinglerMaster's version of this table, so credit goes to him for letting me use the concept (though I did modify it a bit to suit myself).

  • Matchup(+4)9T.png: I have a lot of control on this character, I love to play as it, and I will play as it in tournament the majority of the time.
  • Matchup(+3)9T.png: I have a lot of control on the character, and I really like to play as it. However, it sees little to no usage in tournament as the characters above (except Mewtwo).
  • Matchup(+2)9T.png: I have great control on this character, and I usually choose it.
  • Matchup(+1)9T.png: I have good control on this character, but don't choose it a lot. Though if I choose "Random", I will play it.
  • Matchup(0)9T.png: I play the character at a mediocre level.
  • Matchup(-1)9T.png: I do not play this character.
  • Matchup(-2)9T.png: I DO NOT know how to play this character.
  • Matchup(-3)9T.png: Neither I play this character, nor I like it.
Tier Characters
+4 My favorite female character in videogames since 2011, especially thanks to Palutena's Revolting Dinner, this beautiful girl is my most played character, since the very beginning of the game's lifespan. I remember when she was first considered a mid-tier... then she went downhill until CEO 2016 happened. Ever since Mewtwo's return, I've tried to improve considerably, and I also watch many Palu players to improve my abilities with her (such as Ramen, TLTC and Regi). If balance patches would still be a thing, I would also would have loved it if she had been "Kirby" or "Ike" levels of buffed, though it could happen if the rumors are true of a Nintendo Switch port for this game... My main since Brawl, because of his quirky nature, which makes me love everything about him. Despite being a secondary these days, I still use him a lot, even if I stick to Palutena most of the time. GimR and Regi are my favorite players of him.
+3 I originally thought he was buffed from Melee and that he would be a lot better than his previous iteration. While I was initially wrong, nowadays Mewtwo has many things going up for him, like his newly buffed combo ability and KO options as of 1.1.3. Though giving him faster dash speed again in 1.1.5 was unnecessary... As of recent times, he's a secondary for me competitively like G&W (the only one of the characters that are ranked +3), but for the same reason I prefer sticking to Palu more. WHY IS JAMES CRYING? 'CAUSE HE JUST GOT DUNKED ON! (his forward air) EXPAND DONG. I just love to play as him, ever since Melee. The best Charizard in my region inspired me to play as him, his gamertag is ZERC, and he's also the reason why I am good at the matchup. His stupidly good ombo ability is what makes him lots of fun to play as. One of my region's best players uses him, which inspired me to play as Mac. He's pretty fun to use, even though he's considered bad. Though I obviously miss his previous back aerial. I played Final Fantasy VII with a friend that had a PlayStation, so I know how amazing Cloud was. Since his release, I thought of him being pretty good (though he's right now overrated in all seriousness). However, I have dropped him as a tournament character since then (he had replaced Roy ever since he was released) because of his toxic nature to the community, and is now just a character I play to have fun, not seriously anymore. The disrespect. The power. The dark side. Best Nintendo villain ever.
+2 rawr I've liked Falco more than Fox, ever since Brawl. As he no longer has chaingrabs to his favor, I consider him to be a more well-developed character, though that laser nerf did hurt a lot. I do think he has some potential, but there's these people who just won't stop saying he is underrated. When I was a young lad, I really liked how Jigglypuff was depicted in the anime, and since I remembered those old days, I decided to use her in SSB4. Sadly, I think she is still one of the worst characters of all SSB4 because she didn't improve from Brawl, in fact I think it is the worst character in 1v1s... I tend to play Ness only for trolling purpouses. I like to play as him because... first, he actually takes effort to use. Second, TIPPER. Though I tend to be caught off guard by his players constantly. Since Melee, I liked Roy over Marth because of his sword's flame effects. Now that I grew up, I realized he was bad. It's a sad thing he is still kind of bad in SSB4. I still use him, though just for the lolz. While no longer a character I play a lot, I still dedicate every fight with to my friends. Like Ryo, I switched to him in Brawl when I learned Roy was not on the roster. He and San are my favorite players of him. The matchup is a bit annoying, but they're pretty fun to use. If I know how to use Palu, then I know how to use Pit as well... sorta. Earth is my favorite player of him. I originally played as it for fun, but after the ban of Miis, he has seen better days i the past. My personal Mii Brawler is Goku on a Fighter Uniform, and my build is the not surprising 2122.
+1 He is pretty hard to use properly, so I don't play much as him. Not fun to play against, but fun to play as. TheReflexWonder is my favorite player of him. HOO HAH. At first I didn't think a lot about him, but I've used him and came to the conclusion he's still good, even after the 1.1.5 nerf. MKLeo and Tyrant are my favorite players of him. As a side note, I only like it when MKLeo plays Meta Knight, but not his other characters, lol. Unlike Ness, he is more fun to play as, and I don't mind playing against him; since his learning curve is higher, I respect people more for not using a braindead character.OW THE EDGE. (pretty much same as Pit, but I still prefer the original one) Beep Boop. I only play him when I'm really feeling it. AND HE IS VERY HARD TO MASTER (possibly the hardest character in this game to master due to his frame data issues unlike Ryu). Still fun to use tho.
±0 ub4444, one of my friends and the top player from my region, uses Bowser Jr., and he is really hype to watch (you can find more about Kub4444 by searching for him on this wiki). lol Hyuga I love Zelda, and I know how to use her much better than previously, but she is still unfitting for me, so I don't use her much :/ She's kinda meh to watch, except if it's Mr. R or VoiD. Overrated waifu. Triggered now? kappa He is pretty hard to use consistently, and demands a very high learning curve, so that's why I prefer Falco over Fox. I don't use it a lot, but I know it has a lot of versatility in its special moveset. My personal Mii Swordfighter is my Mii on a Ninja Outfit, and my build is 2131.
-1 I get caught off guard by her a lot, expecially after a friend taught me to NEVER EVER sleep on her. KILL THEM. KILL THEM ALL. One of my region's best players also mains him. Outside of that topic, Ranai is my favorite player of him. DAT INFAMOUS LAUGHTER IN SLAUGHTER. He really needs a couple buffs tho. GOTTA GO FAST INTENSIFIES I used him in the demo version and loved to play as him, because he is my favorite newcomer alongside Cloud Strife and Palu. But his playstyle was unfitting for me. Unlike Rosie, I don't mind playing against him. Originally, I started to play with him because I wanted to know the matchup, though I found his extremely difficult learning curve to be fun to learn and, for some time, started to use him as well. I don't use him anymore, tho. My favorite player with him is Trela. Only use him for trolling purpouses, since he is very hard to use. Shoutouts to Abadango for playing as Pac-Man in the past, and more shoutouts to Tea for his knowledge of the character. Not much to say about it, only that it is my least used Mii, and I wish I could play it better. My personal Mii is Proto Man on his armor, and my build is 3133.
-2 Her playstyle is harder for me to master unlike Ryu's and Shulk's due to all her gimmicks like floating, Vegetable chances and quirky frame data. I also dislike her extremely clean aerial game. I dislike this character's playstyle, I think they could have done a lot better with her if Luma didn't accompany her. I also dislike to play against her. And her jab cancel and Gentlestar's power NEED TO DISSAPEAR FROM THIS UNIVERSE. I dislike Pikachu because of its quick frame data. Respect to those who have mastered it, though. He is definitely better than in Brawl. HOLY CRAP LUCARIO IS SO GOOD. While I used him in the game's release to temporarily replace Mewtwo, I dropped him, due to his polarized frame data, and have NO IDEA how to play as him. His crazy combos are so much satisfying and fun to watch though, especially with DarkAura and iStudying. Good heavens, this character is underrated. Like Peach, unfitting for me.
-3 One of my disliked matchups, even though I have decent knowledge on him: while I do respect the local PR'd Mario player a lot (since he's also a good friend), the fact people lose to inexperienced Mario players and that not only he's very simple to pick up but also very powerful when mastered... no my friend, that is actually not fair for the people. Despite the fact I often use Link, I put him here due to the fact I really hate him with a passion (he's my second most disliked matchup). All because of the toxicity Link mains have achieved with him, and because of all the unnecessary buffs he has got. Even in high play, I cannot simply stand him, and have never been impressed of the advanced tech he can pull out at a strong level. And if you ask, yes I have experience against good Links. A matchup I still dislike to this day. Since the game's release, I think he is better than Brawl due to the removal of hitstun cancelling, and many of the buffs he has received are unnecessary, like the constant knockback scaling increase in his smash atacks and Hammer. It's ironic I kinda dislike him in SSB4 since I liked him in Brawl. Why is she in the game as a "clone"? There are lots of other "original" characters to choose from Fire Emblem that could have appeared as well if they were to be different! Maybe if her damage outputs were not decimal and she had been "Falcofied", she would be more reasonable, at least for me. But for now, in my opinion, Lucina might be an honest character, but also takes as little effort as Mario to use properly, unlike her original version: she has quick frame data, combos, a KO throw and a deceptively strong and medium risk-very high reward forward smash... I mean, except for the forward smash, Marth has that too, but his weak/strong hitbox balance makes up for it, unlike her. The fact I mostly use two characters with generally close-ranged games doesn't help, either. That's why she's my most disliked matchup -_- While not my most disliked matchup, he's still one of my least favorite. Quick frame data, strong smashes, small size, he has combos, a KO throw, excellent recovery and because of this, he seems to never die... Ii mean, he is difficult to play, I am aware, but when you main a tall character, it is annoying. It's amazing how Bayonetta players quickly adapted to the nerfs from 1.1.6, like if she was still broken after all of them... and the fact a friend mains her makes it even worse ಠ_ಠ

Notes[edit]

  • The characters I used...
  • Of the Matchup(+3)9T.png, only Mewtwo sees use in tournaments.
  • I do like Rosie outside of Smash, but I dislike her playstyle and as a result, I play her mediocrely. Same with Mega Man (as mentioned above).
  • I dislike playing against Wario, but I actually play him than others like Pikachu. He is also fun to play as.
  • Nairo indirectly convinced me of playing Dr. Mario.
  • I dislike playing against most of the "Matchup(-3)9T.png" tiered characters because of how annoying they can be to fight against when mastered and because their playerbases have a lot of people that main them. I do not dislike the people that main them tho, and I like most of them outside of Smash: examples would be Bayonetta and Link.
  • The above being said, however, don't make me explain the full reasons why I dislike Lucina... plz, I could go on... also, "Falcofied" is a term I coined for making clones same versions moveset-wise, yet have different playstyle versions altogether. That would make me reconsider her entirely, no joke.
