Pat's House 5 was a Super Smash Bros. Melee major held in San Diego, California on May 2nd-3rd, 2026.
Tournament summary[edit]
This event is primarily known for RapMonster's performance. After failing to place top 8 at GENESIS X3 and Full House: Siege, RapMonster would finally reach top 8 on winners side by defeating both Khalid and Faust, becoming the first Luigi player to do so since Plup at CEO Dreamland. After this, he would defeat Aura before losing in winners finals to his rival Zain for the first time. Falling to losers, he would defeat Moky in a close game 5 set, narrowly preventing a reverse 3-0 to become the highest placing Luigi player at a major, and the only Luigi player to ever reach Grand Finals. Zain would defeat him dominantly in Grands 3-0, earning his first major title of the year. Due to their previous showmatch not counting for rankings, this meant that Zain now had a positive record over RapMonster, despite RapMonster having won all of their encounters prior to the event.
Aside from RapMonster's run, the event is also known for Hungrybox's underperformance. As the number 1 seed of the event, Hungrybox fell to losers early before top 32 with a startling loss from Chilean visitor Chape, who had taken a lesson from Cody Schwab specifically to prepare for Hungrybox. Afterward, he defeated Axe before losing to a returning S2J in a reverse 3-0 to finish 13th, his worst career placement by seeding. S2J would then lose his top 8 qualifier to Medz to finish 9th.
Hungrybox wasn't the only significant uspet before top 8. Aura would defeat both Axe and Moky to reach top 8 on winners' side, though Moky would still make top 8 by defeating KoDoRiN. Zain only barely scraped a win against KoDoRiN before defeating Medz 3-0 to reach top 8. After defeating Hungrybox, Chape would fall to Canadian puff player Faust, only to go on a strong run to top 8 losers, defeating Eddy Mexico, Khalid, and Fiction. Despite losing to RapMonster, Faust would still make top 8 on the losers' side after dominantly defeating Krudo. Alltogether, this event marked the first major top 8 appearances of RapMonster, Faust, and Chape.
