Talk:X (Mega Man)
Move[edit]
Support. X seems more closely associated with the universe (and, to a lesser degree, button). Nyargleblargle (Talk) 18:20, 26 April 2015 (EDT)
- Strong Support. When referring to Mega Max X, people usually refer to him as just that. Not as X. X is significantly more associated with the button and this should be the buttons page if anything. MarioIsTheBest (talk) 16:55, 30 April 2015 (EDT)
Species[edit]
being a wealth of Mega Man knowledge,X should be called a Reploid or an Android, because that's the proper term. you wouldn't call Shulk or Isaac a human, because they're not classified as such in their games. Dreamcastboy99filmz (talk) 15:13, 27 April 2015 (EDT)
X deserves a page[edit]
If Dunban can have his own page, why can't X? They both have trophies, are part of a Final Smash, and are inspirations for Mii Fighter costumes.
- X deserves a page; the issue in question is the title, not the existence of the article. Miles (talk) 17:03, 30 April 2015 (EDT)
Make it a disambig[edit]
There's too many completely different Xs for us to pick any one to own the page. Toomai Glittershine

I do personally think StarCraft (the personal name I give to X) should deserve his own page but I do agree with a title change. Maybe StarCraft Mega Man X or said X (Mega Man) could do. Dots (talk)

- I feel like "X (Mega Man)" would be the best alternative title, since the NA version of SSB4 refers to him as "X" rather consistently. Miles (talk) 12:54, 6 May 2015 (EDT)
- I know that the common nickname for him is "X" but I feel like the full title, "Mega Man X", should be how he is properly named. Being someone knowledgeable about the Mega Man franchise, X is also a Mega Man, and X could also mean a bunch of other things. Dots (talk)

Now that I think about it, maybe X (Mega Man) with do for now. Dots (talk)

Artwork[edit]
Is there a specific reason that the artwork for X is from Project X Zone and not from one of his main games? I'm asking this because Zero's page has his artwork from Mega Man X5, even though he was also in PXZ, not to mention that most other characters' artworks are from the games they hail from as well. Species[edit]
Shouldn't Both X and Zero species say Android since they are Androids? and are only being referred to as Reploids because of they're AI? couldn't it say both of them or something? idk it could have it be like this:
| Species | Android (frequently referred to as a Reploid) |
MG64 (talk) 23:59, October 18, 2025 (EDT)
- I'm the farthest thing from a Mega Man fan, but there are three quotes provided on the page itself as evidence towards why using the term Reploid is correct as opposed to android, and, as I understand it, Reploid is the equivalent term for "android" within the Mega Man X subseries (literally coming from "replica" and "android"). Aidan the Spooky Gamer 01:49, October 19, 2025 (EDT)
- that's the thing. they aren't a replica of anything MG64 (talk) 06:50, October 19, 2025 (EDT)
- ...They're a replica of people. They think and act like humans, they're just also robots.
- Besides, "Reploid" is the term used in the series, so that is what is most accurate. Hylians and Homs very clearly look like humans, but we're not calling Link, Zelda, or Shulk human. Aidan the Spooky Gamer 16:06, October 19, 2025 (EDT)
- But Reploids are specifically Robots based on X's tech. I took a screenshot of the part of the wiki that mentions that. and Zero isn't based off of X, and X is the original MG64 (talk) 17:13, October 19, 2025 (EDT)
- X was built as a robot that mimics the appearance of a human, as was the case with both the original Mega Man and Roll; therefore, saying Reploids are built off of the technology used for X and that "Reploid" is a general term used to refer to robots throughout the Mega Man X subseries are not conflicting statements.
- As for Zero, he's still a Reploid, since Iris says to him in what I assume is X4, "I wanted to live in a world where only Reploids exist, with you." Aidan the Spooky Gamer 17:59, October 19, 2025 (EDT)
- The wiki (the Miraheze one) also says "X was the first fully free-thinking robot of his kind. While created before the term Reploid and being the original robot the Reploids were based on, X is considered a Reploid nonetheless as the term is for robots that think like humans, and X also refers to himself as such." This fits the quotes already used as sources.

- And according to the wiki the novel Rockman X The Novel: Irregulars Report states "Those birthed from science, robots with a sense of self; machine lifeforms known as “Repliroids” coexist with us. They are different from normal machines. Capable of thought, judgement and action, they are beings created by and operating on advanced technology. Having these capabilities, they are androids who are replicas of humans. And for that reason, they were given this name." So the name seems to come from them being replicas from humans, like already said before. Nilsh13 (talk) 06:49, October 20, 2025 (EDT)
