The Battlefield Fortress is a level in the Subspace Emissary. It appears as large castle surrounded by a desert. At the beginning of the stage, there is a cutscene which shows a Subspace Bomb detonating, and then a group of Primids approaching a castle. At the top of this castle is Marth, who appears shocked by the attack. He turns to fight his way out of the castle and defeats the foes. After leaving the castle, Marth is looking up at the sphere of Subspace when Meta Knight appears out of nowhere and attacks Marth. After an evenly matched sword duel, each one sees Primids over their rival's shoulder. They dodge around each other and destroy the Primids with their swords. They turn to face each other, surprised to realize they have a common enemy. After more Primids surround them, they team up to destroy them. After a rather monotonous journey that involves destroying more enemies, Meta Knight and Marth see the Ancient Minister carrying another Subspace Bomb. Suddenly, the yell, "Great Aether!!" is heard and Ike appears, using his trademark Aether to slice through the Subspace Bomb, destroying it. Oddly, Ike yells "Great Aether!!" while doing this despite the fact that it is only a slow-motion normal Aether. After fighting a few more enemies from Subspace, the stage is clear and the swordsmen trio are added to your party. The last thing seen in the level is the castle for which the level in named being caught in the explosion of a replacement Subspace Bomb.
