The Rio de Janeiro eGames Showcase 2016 is the inaugural event of the eGames series of international gaming tournaments hosted by the International eGames Committee (IEGC). The first full eGames is scheduled to take place in 2018 at Pyeongchang, South Korea, however, a two-day event was hosted in Rio on August 15th-16th, 2016 to showcase the tournament and to attract more partners. Two games were featured at the tournament: Smite and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Eight players were invited to participate in the Smash tournament, each being an established top player from a different country. In similar fashion to the Olympics, there was no prize money provided by the organizing committee, however, gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to the first, second and third placers, respectively. It was livestreamed on Twitch at eGames_Official and commentated by Keitaro and Max Ketchum.

True to the showcase's city and date, this showcase was taking place during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
