October 1, 2013 Pic of the day. The Warrior pose. It's not necessary to point that finger. Replaced as picture of the day after the day's Nintendo Direct.
October 1, 2013 A REAL pic of the day. Our guest, Sonic the Hedgehog, joins the battle! We also released a short video clip. Posted midday after the Nintendo Direct revealing Sonic's return, in addition to the previous picture of the day.
October 2, 2013 Pic of the day. Let's compete on the jump springs! Those springs can also shoot out other fighters into the air. Confirms that Mega's Man Rush Coil will behave similarly to Sonic's Spring, including the ability of other characters to spring off it.

October 7, 2013 Pic of the day. Here's a close-up snapshot of Fox McCloud's Blaster. It can open up. An image showing off the new redesigned appearance of Fox's Blaster. What Sakurai means by "it can open up" is a bit unclear, though presumably it just means the Blaster will open in some way while firing.
October 8, 2013 Pic of the day. Sonic's standard attack is also known as PPK. He finishes off his move with a side kick. "PPK" stands for "punch, punch, kick." The PPK is a common attack type for most grounded neutral attacks.
October 9, 2013 Pic of the day. If it's just a missile, a sword can slice it right up. Of course, you could also just use your bare hands.
October 10, 2013 Pic of the day. The shield that can deflect things with a little "clunk!" is still around. There's a slight reaction to the impact this time, so brace yourself. Confirms that the Links will retain the ability to block projectiles with their shield, though they will react to blocking projectiles with it, instead of just standing idly.
October 11, 2013 Pic of the day. Wii Fit trainer is flexible even while sleeping. This was posted the Friday before the weekend of the worldwide release for Pokemon X and Y, confusing people as a playable Pokemon was expected to be revealed to promote the new release, inline with Sakurai's reveal pattern of revealing characters to promote the release of a game in their series.
October 14, 2013 Pic of the day.
Stages like this one are often seen in the New Super Mario Bros series.
It means trouble.
Confirms the rotating blocks from the New Super Mario Bros. series will be platforms in the Super Mario 3D Land stage.
October 15, 2013 Pic of the day. Surpass the speed of sound! Become a star!
October 16, 2013 Pic of the day. A panoramic view of Skyloft, a location that we've seen since the first announcement of the game. You fight landing on the various platforms.
October 17, 2013 Pic of the day. Looks like your teeth are cavity free, huh? An image showing off the much more pronounced teeth Fox possesses.
October 18, 2013 Pic of the day. We have absolutely nothing to announce today regarding Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Really! Confirms the appearance of Xerneas, though in what capacity was not stated nor hinted at. Sakurai's comment also seems to poke fun at the expectation of a new reveal coinciding with Pokemon X and Y.
October 21, 2013 Pic of the day. What a great sound a Meteor Smash makes when it slams on an opponent! …Which, I'm sure, you can't tell by the picture. Sakurai's comment seems to imply meteor smashes will have a new distinct sound when landed.
October 22, 2013 Pic of the day. Flying through rings actually requires careful maneuvering, so um...would you mind getting off?

October 29, 2013 Pic of the day. Let's try out the obstacle course today! While nothing new was shown, this was the first image showing the Villager and Wii Fit Trainer on the 3DS version.
October 30, 2013 Pic of the day. Is it just me or do I smell something beastly...?
October 31, 2013 Pic of the day. The trial version of Wii Fit U is available now! We'd like to share this pic to commemorate the occasion. Confirms the appearance of the male Wii Fit Trainer in some capacity. Sakurai did not however state what role he has in the game, and since he wasn't given his own character reveal nor character page, it's seen that he isn't a separate playable character. It's heavily speculated though that he will be an alternate costume for the Wii Fit Trainer akin to Wario's Biker and Classic outfits, which if true, will be unprecedented in Smash, being the first alternate costume to change a character's physical appearance instead of just their clothing.

November 1, 2013 Pic of the day. Kid Icarus: Uprising is now available to download via eShop in Japan. By the way, we gave a makeover to Pit's pose when he's shooting his bow and arrow so it looks sharper. Do note that all images are still in development. This and past pics may be different from the finished product. Thanks for understanding. Sakurai confirms Pit will have a different pose when firing Palutena's Arrow. He additionally explicitly remarks how what has been seen in the pics of the days is still in development, and could end up different in the finished product.
November 4, 2013 Pic of the day. Is this a spaceship from Hocotate? No-this is a bomb SHAPED like a spaceship. After liftoff, it will drop down when you least expect it. Presumed to confirm a new item: a "bomb shaped like" the Hocotate Ship from the Pikmin series. Sakurai's remark implies it'll crash down at random after liftoff in a similar fashion to Olimar's final smash in Brawl.
November 5, 2013 Photo strip of the day. Plant it, water it, and then timber! It's high maintenance but totally worth the effort! It needs tactics like never before. Three images combined together, to show off the steps to Villager's tree planting move.
November 6, 2013 Pic of the day. Link's downward strike was designed to change to a Meteor Smash when the tip of the sword is aligned just right at the start. However, it will be removed if it's deemed too powerful overall after some multiplayer play tests. Confirmed Link's down aerial will gain the ability to meteor smash, though Sakurai warns he may remove it if he finds it to be too powerful after testing.
November 7, 2013 Pic of the day. Marth joins the battle!! Once again, everyone will be overwhelmed by his magnificent sword skills!! Marth confirmed to return as a playable character, shown with a redesign based off his more recent appearances in the Fire Emblem series.

November 11, 2013 Pic of the day. Here are the familiar capsules--these guys deserve a prize for being in every single game. We gave them a cute redesign by shortening their length a bit. Capsules previously appeared in their Melee and Brawl design in the Developer's Direct at E3, but are now shown to be redesigned, now being shorter and wider.
November 12, 2013 Pic of the day. Marth's sword has a powerful tip! So we gave his sword slashes a sharp look with an emphasis on its edge. November 13, 2013 Pic of the day. The Villager's bug catching net that was shown in the movie is actually a grapple move. It is sort of like Link's Clawshot and Samus's Grapple Beam. November 14, 2013 Pic of the day. The characters' thick outlines are only available in the 3DS version. Only the external outline is thickened and won't appear in instances like when the hands or feet are overlapping. It's got a softness to it and is not just black.
November 15, 2013 Pic of the day. A new stage, Mario Galaxy!! The pull of gravity emanates from the center of the planet, so this will require using brand-new tactics. Confirms a new Mario stage based on the Super Mario Galaxy games. It is additionally confirmed to have an entirely new stage concept, with the stage's gravity emanating from the center of the planet, instead of from the bottom of the stage. This means characters and projectiles will traverse around the planet's curvature instead of straight, and jumping or getting launched upwards from the edge will cause the character to move diagonally.
Here's what happens when you stand by the edges. Vertical jumps and getting hit upward will shoot you up diagonally.

It additionally confirms that it's on the stage boundaries, and that characters that stand on it for too long can get carried past the blast line.

November 22, 2013 Pic of the day. (The back of my neck sure feels warm…)
November 25, 2013 Pic of the day. I see some familiar faces.
November 26, 2013 Pic of the day. Here's the new edition of the Ray Gun. The Smash Bros. mark appears backward because it acts like a stamp. We design the Ray Gun carefully each time to ensure it doesn't look like a real gun. Confirms the return of the Ray Gun as an item, as well as its new redesign, that explicitly makes it appear less realistic.
November 27, 2013 Pic of the day. Sonic, failure. While it's unclear what exactly Sakurai is referring to here, it is believed to be showing off newly gained launch resistance in Bowser's attacks, or a completely new armor mechanic having to do with Bowser's shell.
November 28, 2013 Pic of the day. A Dark Train goes full-steam ahead. Confirms that Dark Trains will appear on the Spirit Train stage, though if they'll merely serve as additional platforms or have a stage hazard effect is unknown.
November 29, 2013 Pic of the day. A red-black effect now appears when you're hit by a strong blow. It'll only appear when you have high damage, so when you see this you're in trouble--and you're probably about to get KO'd! Confirms a new visual effect to accentuate when a landed blow produces especially high knockback.
