Dragon Lunge in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. | |
User | Corrin |
Universe | Fire Emblem |
Dragon Lunge is Corrin's side special.
When used on the ground, Corrin takes a short and quick leap forward. When used in the air (or when the button is pressed again after the grounded short leap) he activates Dragon Fang and thrusts his spear-hand at a downward angle. If Corrin's spear-hand makes contact with a solid surface, he'll stay in that position, and any opponents caught in the attack while it is held will be pinned with him, unable to move. While in this state, Corrin can follow up the attack with a kick forward (directional input forward or neutral special button), a kick backward (directional input backward), a jump (up direction), or simply cancelling by falling to the ground (waiting, with no inputs). The attack can be timed to hit the ground or not.
This move deals 7% if started on the ground and 8% if started in the air. In either case, it has a sweet spot at the tip of Corrin's lance for 15% damage (though sticking the opponent into a solid surface is highly unlikely with this). Sticking an opponent and kicking either forward or backward will cause Corrin to lunge in that direction. He can strike for 12% damage in either case, but if lunging backward, any pinned opponents will be released harmlessly. Struck opponents are launched, and Corrin will fly a considerable distance at a low angle (potentially off a ledge).
Customization
Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the known variations:
1. Dragon Lunge |
---|
"Leap and press the button again to attack. Skewer surfaces or walls, and you can do a follow-up kick." |
- Dragon Lunge: Default.
Like the other DLC characters, Corrin currently lacks custom move variations.
Origin
In Fire Emblem: Fates, the Nohr Prince and Nohr Princess classes have access to the skill Dragon Fang, which allows the user to transform parts of their body (if not currently wielding a Dragonstone) to attack. This move comes from the second part of his Critical Hit with Dragon Fang, in which Corrin transforms his arm into a spear-like appendage and stabs his opponent while in the air on the rebound of a flipping slash. The ability to stick the limb into the ground is unique to Super Smash Bros.
