Dixie Kong is a character in the Donkey Kong series. She is Diddy Kong's girlfriend. Despite Diddy Kong's absence in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Dixie appeared as a trophy, and later reprised this role in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Character Info

Dixie Kong is Diddy Kong's girlfriend and one of the more popular Kongs. Though she first appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2 as Diddy Kong's sidekick, she later made the starring role of Donkey Kong Country 3, as well as the Game Boy versions Donkey Kong Land 2 and Donkey Kong Land 3. While she didn't return, as expected, in Donkey Kong 64, her sister, Tiny Kong, served as her replacement, to the displeasure of many fans. Dixie did not appear again (not counting her trophy in Melee until Donkey Konga 2 on the GameCube, a bongo rhythm game. She appeared once again in the Japan only Donkey Konga 3.She is also a playable character in Diddy Kong Racing DS, Mario Hoops 3-On- 3, Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast, and Mario Super Sluggers for Wii.

Dixie's only appearance in a true Donkey Kong game since DKL3, aside from the Game Boy Advance remakes of DKC2 and DKC3 has been as a multiplayer option in DK: King of Swing for the GBA, and then again in Donkey Kong Jungle Climber for the Nintendo DS. Dixie is remembered by her ability to twirl her hair to slowly float downwards, an ability that made her often the preferred choice over Diddy in DKC2,and Kiddy Kong in DKC3, because it made it much easier to access hard-to-reach-places and bonus games. Dixie Kong has secured her place as one of the main Donkey Kong characters and appears 3rd only to Donkey and Diddy.

Dixie's trophy in Brawl

Dixie appeared as a trophy in Melee. Curiously, Diddy Kong did not.

In Brawl, Dixie appears again as a trophy, as well as several stickers.

Diddy Kong has a palette swap that makes his clothes pink and his fur a lighter brown, a reference to Dixie Kong.

Trophy Info

Diddy Kong's cutie of a girlfriend with an adorable blond ponytail. That ponytail is hardly for show--it helps propel her through the air for extended hang time and is indispensable for spin-attacking enemies and lifting barrels. Watch out--Dixie packs more power than you might imagine!

As A Playable Character

Hackers who decompiled the Brawl disc discovered a character file package that appears to have been made for Dixie Kong, possibly indicating failed plans to include her as a playable character in the game. Speculatively, she probably did not make it in because of her similarity to Diddy Kong (and her much smaller relevance to the Donkey Kong series), like other failed characters such as Toon Zelda and Toon Sheik and their similarities to Zelda and Sheik. It is also possible that she was intended to be in a team of some sort with Diddy Kong.
