The Frozen Pac-Man is a glitch in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS discovered by YouTube user lologtwgDQ3. This glitch involves Pac-Man. A video of the glitch was uploaded on YouTube, with Pac-Man being stuck in a Warp Star with Mii Fighters. Later, a video of the same glitch was uploaded on YouTube, this time with Pac-Man being stuck in a tree during a match in Tortimer Island. It's currently unknown if the glitch appears in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. This glitch has two known methods to perform it. It also involves Pac-Man being stuck in a specific frame with no idle animation. He only blinks, possibly because blinking is an entirely different animation.[1]

Performing the glitch

Method one

This method allows Pac-Man to be frozen standing up, with him blinking several times.

Characters needed

Stage required

  • Rainbow Road

Performing it

Once both players are on the stage, the players must use Pac-Man's side special and throw the pellets at a straight direction where he's facing the opponent. The player who's Duck Hunt must hit Pac-Man while he's using his side special so the bigger pellet at the end can drop. Then Pac-Man needs to knock Duck Hunt off the stage by using his side smash attack. Once the opponent is sent flying, use a taunt when he lays on the ground singing. If done correctly, Pac-Man will stand up and will begin to freeze. At the beginning when he freezes, Pac-Man will rapidly blink four times. However, there is a 45% chance that this method can lead to the glitch.

Method Two

This method is the warp star version of the glitch. This method is simpler and the most common method of the glitch. This method doesn't need a specific character to perform.

Characters needed

  • Pac-Man
  • Any other character

Stages required

  • Rainbow Road (recommended)
  • Battlefield
  • Tortimer Island

Performing it

First, Pac-Man needs to ride on a warp star. Like method one, use his side special and throw the pellets straight at the opponent facing him. Next, the opponent has to hit Pac-Man while he's using his side special making the bigger pellet at the end drop. Now Pac-Man has to ride on another warp star. The opponent now has to eat the bigger pellet. As Pac-Man starts to land, he will start to freeze in a "planking" or "praying" position.[2]

Trivia

  • In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, an opposite glitch can occur involving Pac-Man doing his side smash then drifting in a random direction, passing throught parts of the stage when the game is paused. If the player unpauses the game, Pac-Man will be in the same spot where he was standing like nothing even happened.
