Air dodge
Air dodging is performed by fully pressing either the L or R button while in the air. Air dodging can be performed with or without a direction. Doing so in a direction pushes the used character a certain short distance in the direction desired. When airdodging, the character will get some frames of invincibility but after the dodge is finished, it falls in a helpless position, unable to perform any jumps or attacks until grabbing an edge or landing on the ground. Airdodging in a downward direction while your dodge will bring you in contact with the ground will cause a character to slide a distance on the ground depending on the angle of the dodge, the traction of the character and the ground and your height from the ground. This is known as wavedashing.
