Mother 3 (マザースリー, Mazā Surī) is a role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance, developed by HAL Laboratory and Brownie Brown, published by Nintendo. It is the third, and supposedly final, game in the EarthBound/Mother series, as series creator, Shigesato Itoi, stated there are no plans on making a "Mother 4".
It was announced in June 2003 during a Mother 1 + 2 television commercial, though details of its development were kept secret. Up until its release, the game remained near the top of Famitsu's most wanted games list. Immediately before its release, Mother 3 was the most wanted game in Japan according to Weekly Famitsu.
Super Smash Bros. series
Originally, Lucas, the main character of Mother 3 was supposed to replace Ness in Super Smash Bros. Melee, however, since the game was delayed (the game was originally going to be for the Nintendo 64, but later cancelled), Ness remained.
However, Lucas was eventually confirmed to be in the next SSB game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In addition, New Pork City, a location Lucas and his friends visited in the last chapter of the game, is confirmed to be a stage. The Ultimate Chimera also appears as a hazard on this stage.
