Aztec Esports did not have its first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster until the 2025–2026 academic year. Team rank reflects Filipino Boyfriend's relative standing among members of that roster.
History
Competitive career
PSIPSY began competing in Super Smash Bros. 4 in 2016, primarily using 
. He competed in the Thurgood Marshall scene, where he was initially ranked 2nd before reaching 1st on the local power rankings in the second half of 2017. He remained ranked 1st through the first half of 2019.
Around the transition from Smash 4 to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, PSIPSY also became active in the competitive Super Smash Flash 2 community, primarily playing Pac-Man. He was ranked 33rd on the SSF2 Top 50 Global Flash Collective Rankings for Season 5 in 2019 and improved to 14th in Season 6 in 2020. His results during this period included victories at ARSC Smash Strike 2020 and get rekt, as well as an appearance at the Oasis Invitational.
In Ultimate, he began competing in the Scripps Ranch scene in 2019, primarily using 
. He competed in the Scripps Ranch Power League and scholastic events, reaching 1st on the Scripps Ranch Power Rankings on three occasions between 2021 and 2023. He later took a competitive hiatus following high school.
He returned to competition in late 2024 and joined the Aztec Esports Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team at San Diego State University, eventually adopting the tag Filipino Boyfriend. During his return to the San Diego competitive scene, he transitioned to as his primary character while developing as a co-main. He also continued to use and 
as secondaries in tournament competition.
His collegiate results included a 4th-place finish at Aztec Spring Games 2025 and multiple top-10 finishes at Aztec Games events. At Aztec Spring Games 2026, he placed 9th out of 39 entrants and defeated San Diego PR player $$$, who had previously been ranked within the top four in San Diego and top 50 in Southern California.
Community involvement
Outside of competition, Filipino Boyfriend has contributed to the Smash community as a substitute commentator at Aztec Games. He has also represented San Diego State University in collegiate and crew battle competition.
