The '''Spring 2020 PGRU''' was a cancelled list meant to rank the best smashers for ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'' from December 16th, 2019 to an unspecified date in the middle of the year. Due to the [[COVID-19]] pandemic, however, the rankings were frozen on March 12th, 2020,<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/pgstats/status/1237971902750171136|title=Effective immediately, the PGR and TTS will be frozen.}}</ref> before being cancelled. Though the PGRU eventually relaunched, first with the [[PGRContenders]] and then with the [[PGRU v3]], both lists ignored the results of this season due to the amount of time that had passed, leaving the results of this season unranked by the rankings.

==Methodology==
Due to concerns over players attempting to game the rankings, the methodology received an overhaul. The algorithm was retired in favor of a panel-based system that was similar to the [[MPGR]]. The rankings themselves would be extended by 50 places and now would rank the top 100 players instead of 50. Players in Area 51 would be counted for the PGRU, and five additional "rising stars" would be considered for PGR tournaments 3 months into the season; both would be worth the same as those ranked from 31-50. The international multiplier was changed as well: the multiplier for the continental United States and Japan remained the same; however, the multiplier everywhere else changed to ~1.67x; the C-tier threshold for those countries was now 120. Disqualifications for entrants in free-to-enter tournaments were counted, and a 1-DQ buffer was given to S tier tournaments, likely as a result of the [[Tournament:Glitch 7 - Minus World#GlitchGate Controversy|GlitchGate Controversy]]. Finally, there were plans for an off-season starting in December and ending in January.
