'''Sonic''' is a playable character in the ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' [[mod]] ''[[Smash Remix]]''. He was added into the game in its v1.1.0 update on February 10th, 2022, serving as the first of two characters representing games released on rival platforms to the Nintendo 64, the other being {{SR|Crash}}. 

Sonic's default design is taken from ''[https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_Adventure Sonic Adventure]'', being slightly less tall than his design from ''[https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_Adventure_2 Sonic Adventure 2]'' onwards. The Japanese version of Classic Sonic is available as an alternate costume, based on his in-game design from ''[https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_Jam Sonic Jam]''. However, all of Sonic's associated stages are taken from Sega Genesis games and not Dreamcast or Saturn games. His moveset strongly resembles his official ''Smash'' moveset, with additional moves taken from ''[https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_Battle Sonic Battle]''. A more powerful alternate variant of Sonic, {{SR|Super Sonic}}, is available as a bonus character.

Sonic's sound design varies depending on the alternate costume. For his modern design, his voice clips consist of archived audio provided by {{iw|wikipedia|Ryan Drummond}} (who voiced the character from ''Sonic Adventure'' up until ''[https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Sonic_Advance_3 Sonic Advance 3]''. For his classic design, he is unvoiced; this alludes to the character being mute in games throughout the ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' series that incorporate the Classic Sonic design. This also affects the sound of his up special, Spring Jump, which uses the sound from Sonic Adventure for Modern Sonic and the sound from the Sega Genesis games for Classic Sonic.
