===Beginnings===
Zamu first began playing competitively in early 2015, attending the weeklies in Champaign. Near the end of 2016, she entered her first major at {{Trn|The Big House 6}}, notably losing in Round 1 Pools against {{Sm|Ginger}}, followed by a solid 33rd finish at {{Trn|Eden}}, losing to {{Sm|Druggedfox}} in Winners side of Top 64.

2017 marked significant progression, gradually placing higher, teaming with various players in the scene (notably Thor and {{Sm|Captain Faceroll}}) and travelling to more regional events. She made her first appearance on the [https://start.gg/rankings/melee/series/champaign-illinois/spring-2017 Champaign Power Rankings in the Spring 2017 iteration], at 9th. Zamu traveled to {{Trn|Smash 'N' Splash 3}}, losing in pools to {{Sm|Cal}}. A string of more solid placements eventually led to her first tournament win in September of 2017, and being ranked 6th in the [https://start.gg/rankings/melee/series/champaign-illinois/fall-2017 Fall 2017 Power Rankings]. She fell to {{Sm|Crush}} (3-0) and JustJoe at Super Rubicon 2 - finishing at 7th. She took a set over {{Sm|Reeve}} (3-2), earning a 5th place finish at Kill Roy: Vol. 3. At House of Paign 15, after being sent to losers side of Top 48 by {{Sm|Prince Abu}} (3-1), she 3-0'd JustJoe and bested {{Sm|Michael}} (3-1), but was eliminated by SK92 (3-0) to finish 7th. She rounded out the year with a 2nd place finish at The Winter Theater, beating {{Sm|AbsentPage}} in a game-5 Losers Finals set (only losing to eventual winner, Captain Faceroll).

===2018===
Zamu kicked off 2018 with a 7th place finish at Cincinnati Smash Classic VII, losing to {{Sm|Drephen}} and Fizzle_Boy. She then attended the Chicago Melee Arcadian, winning the event with nearly all 3-0 sweeps through Winners side of Top 32 (only dropping 1 game). This was followed by House of Paign 16, where Zamu lost to Cob and Reeve enroute to a lack luster 17th place finish. Next, at Chicago Gaming Coalition No.1, Zamu lost to {{Sm|Bananas}} in Winners Semis of pools, and was upset in the Top 32 Losers qualifier by dudutsai, finishing 33rd. At Stiff Knees, Zamu was sent to Losers by Vista (3-1), and then eliminated by Travioli (3-2) to get 5th place, just ahead of {{Trn|Full Bloom 4}}. At her first Major of the year, she lost in pools to Free Palestine (formerly Milhous), and then was eliminated in pools by {{Sm|homemadewaffles}}, getting 65th. She quickly turned things around, and at House of Paign 17, she beat {{Sm|Kels}} (3-1), and ended with a solid 4th place finish, only losing to AbsentPage and Michael. This was followed by a 1st place finish at a regional in Missouri - Wunderland 7 - taking out Travioli (who sent him to Losers), {{Sm|Shinobi}} and {{Sm|Iori}}. The week after that, Zamu competed at {{Trn|Aegis}}, and enroute to a 9th place finish, took out {{Sm|Rik}} while losing to {{Sm|Plup}} and {{Sm|Moky}}. At the last of House of Paign iteration until the fall (HoP 18), Zamu coasted into Winners side of Top 48, beating Drephen and {{Sm|Syrox}}, but was sent to Losers by eventual runner-up, {{Sm|KJH}}, and eliminated by {{Sm|Ginger}}. A pair of back-to-back regionals made for a good showing ahead of the summer of smash, as Zamu double-eliminated Rik at Rest in Peach (getting 2nd to AbsentPage), and double eliminated Rik at Master Hand Monthly in Indiana the following weekend to take 1st place.

At {{Trn|Smash 'N' Splash 4}}, Zamu met Ginger in Top 64 Winner's Qualifier - beating him 2-0. She then faced {{Sm|S2J}} in first round of Top 64, losing 3-0, and was eliminated by Travioli in a game 5 set, taking 33rd. Her strongest run of the year came at {{Trn|Smashville 7}}, where she ran through {{Sm|Redd}}, Drephen, and Michael, before losing both sets of Grand Finals to {{Sm|n0ne}}, but managed to take the first set to game 5. At {{Trn|Super Smash Con 2018}}, she was upset in Winners Semi's of pools by Cascade (2-1), and then lost in Round 2 pools to DrLobster (2-1), ending her run at 97th. Capping off the summer of smash was {{Trn|Shine 2018}}, where Zamu again lost in Round 1 pools to Riko, but pulled together a solid Losers run, beating players such as TheRealThing and G$, before falling to {{Sm|Darktooth}}, earning 33rd.
