You've already provided a list of your strong points, which is all well and good. What I'd like to know is: why do you want to be a sysop? – Defiant Elements +talk 22:04, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, part of it is that I want to be able to deal with vandals better. Not just with reverting, of course (I would have made an RfR instead if only for that), but with deleting pages and blocking the troublesome ones. I'd also like to get into more user disputes. You see, if I happen to see a user dispute, I'll usually walk away thinking "I'll just let the admins handle that". But as an admin, I would have a bunch more motivation to get in there and solve the problem myself. It's a bit of an odd explination, but then again I'm a bit of a weird person. I understand where you're coming from in regard to the point about user disputes, and really, it's not very weird at all; however, with that said, you really shouldn't "need" adminship as a motivation to get involved in said disputes, and the notion of giving someone adminship based largely (you provided two reasons, and del/block/prot is kinda minor as reasons go unless a particular wiki really happens to need additional admins to handle janitorial tasks) on the notion that, in so doing, you would provide them with a reason to get involved in user disputes is a little bit iffy. (I hope that makes sense...) The same goes for giving someone adminship in order that they can prove themselves in an area in which they had ample opportunity to prove themselves as a "regular" user. Additionally, in my experience, it's people who are motivated to get involved in policy discussion, user disputes, etc., regardless of whether or not they have a personal stake in the particular discussion and regardless of whether or not they're admins, who end up making the best admins. (That's a side note, however, which may or may not have any relevance in this particular case.) – Defiant Elements +talk 23:48, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure now that I didn't think this through enough. (Which is odd, since usually it only takes me one or two days to decide something.) So this RfA has been withdrawn. Toomai Glittershine The Stats Guy 01:52, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
