When used in the air, the move adds a small amount of upwards momentum to Zero Suit Samus, which stacks with her current momentum, similar to other moves like {{SSBB|Fox}}'s and {{SSBB|Snake}}'s forward aerials. This is most noticeable if she is already moving upwards, such as if she has recently jumped, as it can extend the height of her jumps as a result.
If the player jumped off the edge but has not used their second jump, using this move will make them move upwards slightly.
