'''Lanky Kong''' is a playable character in the ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' [[mod]] ''[[Smash Remix]]''.  He was added into the mod as a bonus character in its 2.0.0 release on June 25, 2025. Lanky Kong is the eleventh character added to have not first been playable in an official ''Smash'' game.

Lanky's voice clips consist of archived audio from ''{{iw|mariowiki|Donkey Kong 64}}'' provided by {{iw|mariowiki|Chris Sutherland}}.

Lanky's large size, extensive range, and powerful recovery ability all make him a tough opponent to deal with. As such, the game opts to classify him as a bonus character along with other less-balanced fighters like {{SR|Dragon King}} and {{SR|Mad Piano}}. His only real weaknesses are that he has a very large hurtbox that makes it easy to trade attacks or even hit him out of his own, and that none of his special moves do much damage, if any at all.

After a certain amount of time or by hitting the button again, Lanky will release the air and swipe his arms down before entering freefall; the arm swipe is the only part of the move that does damage. If Lanky is hit while floating, he will "pop" and begin flying around as he deflates before running out of air, with the player able to control his direction.

OrangStand alters many aspects of Lanky's mobility during this stance, such as slightly increasing his grounded movement speed, significantly increasing his acceleration, deceleration and turnaround speed, removing his ability to crouch, teeter on ledges, [[initial dash]], use his dash attack and makes stick jumping and button jumping yield the same height. When exiting the OrangStand stance midair, Lanky gets a small boost forward, and any upwards vertical momentum Lanky has is cancelled. Aside from moving, taunting or performing a single jump, every other action will take Lanky out of this stance.

===Grape wall===

Lanky Kong can shoot up to 4 grapes per use of his neutral special, and if he does this while descending, he will make a small wall of grapes that reach a little over platform height. This can either force opponents to jump over it or take up to 16%.

===Balloon parry===

Similarly to how {{SSB|Yoshi}} can use his [[super armor|armored]] double jump to [[Parry (Yoshi)|parry]] attacks, if Lanky uses his up special right before taking damage, he can 'steer' his knockback with an animation of him "deflating."

===Deflate control===
When Lanky gets hit during the rising portion of his up special, he will begin "deflating", and Lanky can actually steer the direction he flies in to either retreat from the opponent or gain neutral. The more damage Lanky has, the faster he will fly, and Lanky can actually [[tech]] if he comes into contact with the ground while deflating.

===OrangStand attacks===
Due to Lanky being able to turn around almost instantly and not be able to dash attack in the OrangStand state, he can more easily perform turnaround tilts and smash attacks. He can also space his attacks way more precisely with this.

===Quick edgehog===

Due to the OrangStand state cancelling upwards vertical momentum when exited midair, when facing away from a ledge while in the OrangStand state, Lanky can jump and then quickly exit Orangstand whilst moving backwards to then fall onto the ledge while facing it and grab onto it. This is much faster than performing a normal [[shorthop]] and falling onto the ledge. This allows Lanky to [[edgehog]] much quicker than most other characters.

===Super quick edgehog===

Due to OrangStand not allowing Lanky to [[teeter]], it is easier for him to slip off of ledges and platforms in the OrangStand state. And if Lanky is approaching a ledge in OrangStand right before falling off of it if he turns around, he will still carry a bit of the momentum from running and slip off of the ledge while facing it and then grab onto it. This is much faster than the normal [[edgehog]] method and makes Lanky one of the best at edgehogging.

===Fastfall cancel===
If Lanky enters/exits the OrangStand state while [[fastfalling]], he will essentially cancel the fastfall while keeping his full mobility. This is useful for mixing up recoveries or landing and can even be done multiple times.

Lanky can appear in Stage 4 as a team with Donkey Kong called "DK Crew", where they are fought on [[Kongo Falls]].

==Trivia==
*Lanky Kong's [[character selection screen]] portrait, which can only be seen in the [[twelve character battle|12 Character Battle]] mode, is based on [[mariowiki:File:Lanky Kong.jpg|one of his character renders]] from ''Donkey Kong 64''.
*While Lanky is in the OrangStand stance, his attack animations become 4 frames faster because there are 4 frames of Lanky Kong exiting the OrangStand stance, so there it does not affect the speed of his attacks by any means.
*Lanky Kong's reveal trailer is based on the viral meme video "[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PugcxQYJGjs Lanky Kong listens to DK Rap for the first time]" by YouTube comedian Joel Haver, replicating the plotline of Lanky Kong reacting in upset to the finished result of a video he worked on (albeit with a happy ending unlike the source material), multiple jokes, and Haver's distinctive rotoscoped effects. This parody was created with Haver's official consent, though he did not reprise his role as Lanky, instead being done by Matthew McClesky, another animator whose work is strongly inspired by Haver's and uses the same techniques.
