'''Dark Samus''' is a playable character in the ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' [[mod]] ''[[Smash Remix]]''. She was added into the mod in its v0.9.1 release on December 24, 2019. Prior to v2.0.0, Dark Samus had her own slot on the [[character selection screen]], but has since been moved to the bonus characters section.

==Attributes==
Like in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'', Dark Samus functions as a [[clone]] of {{SSB|Samus}}. However, Dark Samus was given new moves to make her more unique from Samus. Her neutral aerial has her emit body sparks similarly to {{SR|Mewtwo}}'s, her up smash lacks elemental properties, and her down smash has her slam the ground to create a shockwave around her. Her down special was also revamped into Boost Ball, where she curls up and rolls a distance forward. When used mid-air, she'll diagonally boost forward and crash to the ground. Unlike Samus, she can also charge her Charge Shot in the air, but as a trade-off, it fires more slowly.

However, she can still appear in Stage 4 as a team with {{SSB|Samus}} called "Echoes", where they are fought on Norfair or Crateria.

==Trivia==
*Even though Dark Samus was relegated to a bonus character, she still has a [[Fighting Polygon Team|Fighting Polygon]] based on her that can appear when fighting the Fighting Polygon Team in Remix 1P Mode.
*During development of later ''Smash Remix'' versions, the team experimented with making [[Missile]] Dark Samus's neutral special and giving her a unique up special that would make her rise upwards before crashing down. Ultimately, the team decided against both, as they felt the required effort wouldn't be worth updating a clone character created so long ago.
*As of Version 2.0.0, Dark Samus' CSS portrait seems to be based on her artwork in ''{{iw|wikipedia|Metroid Prime 2: Echoes}}''. Before this, her CSS portrait was based on her ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'' render.
**OniFox, who created the new CSS portrait, explained on the ''Smash Remix'' Discord server that it's just an edited render of the low-poly model, and not based on official renders.
