Bomberman appears as an Assist Trophy character in Ultimate and lays down bombs which he then explodes into cross patterns, similar to his home game. The explosions deal up to 12 hits of 1.2% damage with a final 2.6% hit for a maximum of 17%. He can be KO'd by opponents and even his own bombs, although he avoids the latter most of the time. He may also place Remote Bombs, which he can detonate at any time. They also explode if caught in another bomb's explosion. Bombs can be detonated early by attacking them and take 1.1× damage from flame attacks. Bombs can also be moved by hitting them and Bomberman may do so himself.

Bomberman is active for 1200 frames (20 seconds) and has a base HP of 60. When he reaches the edge of a platform he has a 35 chance to walk off, 5 chance to jump, and a 30 chance to turn around. Away from platform edges (and when not trying to avoid an explosion) he has a 1 chance to jump, 3 chance to fall through a soft platform (if applicable), and a 2 to turn around if he hasn't turned around within the past 60 frames (1 second, not counting turning at edges or when avoiding explosions). He waits between 60-180 frames (1-3 seconds) to start placing bombs, placing one and then has a 25% chance for each subsequent bomb, up to a maximum of three. There's a 20% chance that a bomb will be a Remote Bomb, but he must place at least two regular bombs at some point before he can place another Remote Bomb. He waits between 90-300 frames (1.5-6 seconds) before detonating a Remote Bomb.

Regular bombs have a base HP of 15 (affected by player count like Bomberman) and explode about 210 frames (3.5 seconds, not counting the time it is in Bomberman's hands and may be delayed if hit) after being placed while Remote Bombs have a base HP of 13 (again affected by player count). Explosions last 48 frames (0.8 seconds) and hit every 4 frames (0.0667 seconds) with the final explosion hitbox lasting 2 frames (0.0333 seconds). Bombs can be moved if they take 55 or more knockback (assuming a weight of 100).

Bomberman has a spawn chance of 38. He can be summoned on all stages in a standard versus match.
