Akira Yuki is the mascot of the ''Virtua Fighter'' series. In the original game, he serves as the assistant instructor at his family's dojo, Yuki Budokan. When he learns of the first World Fighting Tournament at age 23, he decides to enter in order to test his abilities.

Akira is the basis for a paid [[downloadable content]] [[Alternate costume (SSB4)#Wave 2|costume]] for {{SSB4|Mii Brawler}}s. Nintendo also released a [http://www.smashbros.com/images/dlc/image/qr_sample05.jpg QR code] for those who wish to have the exact Mii used in the costume's advertising. The costume is similar to his debut appearance in the original ''Virtua Fighter'', where graphical limitations had him appear in a blocky and polygonal form.

Akira is an [[Assist Trophy]]. Like his Mii costume, he appears with his original blocky and polygonal model from the original ''Virtua Fighter'', and his animations resemble the choppy movements of the original game. His voice clips are reused from ''Virtua Fighter 4''.

==Trivia==
*[[Bayonetta]] performs the Tetsuzanko technique for her forward throw, and she will occasionally say "{{ja|十年早いんだよ!|Juunen hayain da yo!}} (''(You are) Ten years too early (to challenge me)!'')", which is a reference to Akira's famous quote in the ''Virtua Fighter'' series. This is a carryover of a similar easter egg from ''Bayonetta''. Akira himself also performs the technique and says the quote in his Assist Trophy appearance. This is acknowledged in Akira's blog entry.
*Akira's opponents in the November 1 Direct include {{SSBU|Zero Suit Samus}}, referencing how she looks similar to {{iw|wikipedia|Sarah Bryant|Virtua Fighter}}, and {{SSBU|Wolf}}, referencing Wolf Hawkfield.
**This was referenced once before in the New Content Approaching Direct, where the Jacky Mii is seen fighting [[Zero Suit Samus (SSB4)|Zero Suit Samus]].
