So are there any other apparent changes that have been noticed by y'all?

I noticed that PSI Magnet was bigger than in Brawl, increasing its range. Or maybe Ness is just smaller (and so are his hurtboxes)... Tehplanefreak (talk) 16:12, 16 November 2014 (EST)

Ness's specials

  • Neutral Special - PK Flash -- A ball of energy that you can control that does harsh damage when it explodes. Disappears when hitting a platform. Face backwards while doing it to make it travel a longer distance.
    • Rising PK Flash -- A PK Flash that rises up but less damage and less control over its movement.
    • PK Freeze -- Freezes the opponent instead of damaging them sharply. Does less damage.
  • Side Special - PK Fire -- A flame that travels horizontally releases a flame pillar. Travels diagonally when used in the air.
    • PK Bonfire -- Shorter range, but has a bigger flame, lasts longer, and does more damage. However, it doesn't trap opponents as much.
    • PK Fire Burst -- Instead of trapping opponents in the fire, it knocks them back instead.
  • Up Special - PK Thunder -- A ball of thunder can be controlled. Disappears when hitting an enemy or platform. It can be used to launch yourself into others, or in the air.
    • Lasting PK Thunder -- Does not disappear when it hits an opponent. PK Thunder 2 goes through opponents also.
    • Rolling PK Thunder -- Slower and larger. Does not travel/launch you as far. However, it does more damage and has greater knockback. PK Thunder 2 has a larger hitbox.
  • Down Special - PSI Magnet - A magnet-like field surrounds Ness and heals you when you absorb projectiles and energy-based attacks. Blows opponents away when released.
    • PSI Vacuum -- Pulls enemies towards Ness and does damage when the button is let go. Does not absorb projectiles.
    • Forward PSI Magnet -- PSI Magnet is put in front of Ness and does damage when the button is let go if enemies are trapped inside the magnet.

Buff

  • Buff Down aerial is much faster, now almost as fast as its Smash 64 iteration.

It has a new animation where Ness clearly twirls around before kicking, and that in itself puts it around the same speed as Brawl (20 frames). 64 was basically instantaneous, so it's nothing like that. FlynnCL (talk) 02:30, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

  • Change Ness spins before attacking.
It does say that on the page. Aidan the Intermediate Gamer (talk) 08:28, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

Yo-yo change

Shouldn't it considered a nerf (red) instead of a change (? blue icon) that Ness's yo-yo no longer has an active hitbox while it's charging? Though I guess it's also buffed in the sense that it gets stronger with charging, for once.... so maybe we could list both? (nerf and buff, respectively) Rashid (talk) 15:14, 25 September 2014 (EDT)

110 new screenshots from IGN

I found a plethora of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U screenshots from IGN. Many of them are of Ness posing, using his moves, and attacking other fighters. Tehplanefreak (talk) 22:16, 21 October 2014 (EDT)

Hate to tell you this, but someone got to this first. But thanks, anyways. Rtzxy Personal use; signature, to be exact Smashing! 22:24, 21 October 2014 (EDT)
Oh, okay. But would you consider adding the Ness screenshots to the gallery anyway? Tehplanefreak (talk) 19:20, 23 October 2014 (EDT)

Forward smash

  • Buff However, Ness's forward smash has a larger hitbox.

Do you think that Ness's bat has a larger hitbox? Some people on SmashBoards say that it's much easier to reflect projectiles with Ness's bat, because it has a larger hitbox. Tehplanefreak (talk) 14:51, 1 November 2014 (EDT)

Move names

So, what's our policy for the names of a character's normals? Almost none of them have official names, and yet there are a few pages where every single move in a character's moveset is named, like Mario and Greninja. Were these names created by something community-centric like SmashBoards, or did some guy just come in and name them all on his own and we were cool with it? If it's the latter, then I'd be up for giving names to the moves of several characters. Nymbare and his talk 07:39, 21 November 2014 (EST)

make sure to ask this on an appropriate talk page. This is a Ness specific character page. Gpev96 (SHAZAM!) (talk) 09:09, 21 November 2014 (EST)

Ness's yo-yo

The up and down smashes are now reliable KO moves at 100-120% [1]! YoshiKong (talk) 09:31, 21 November 2014 (EST)

Back throw seems to KO 10% later.

Now KOing around 135% from anywhere on the stage, compared to 125%. Blackbrass (talk) 14:29, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

Villager countering Ness

Yes, Villager can gimp/edgeguard Ness very effectively. However, Lloid Rocket is stopped by PK Fire, which is a big deal considering its usefulness in Villager's Neutral. I don't think that Villager is a problem for Ness if you play patiently. TalTal8 (talk) 09:10, 7 January 2016 (EST)

I don't think stopping Lloid Rocket with a laggy move is going to help you much. It's not really supposed to hit you from across the stage anyway. I don't know if Villager is an especially big problem for Ness overall, but then I don't believe Ness is quite as good as the page implies. "Advantageous matchups against most of the cast" seems like a bold statement. Zyrac sig.png Zyrac(talkcontribs) 09:46, 7 January 2016 (EST)
I concur on Villager countering Ness. If the latter is in a position where he is getting edge-guarded and is about to recover, Villager just Pockets his PK Thunder... and that's it. He can make Ness die at a very low percent. Further compounded by his powerful moves and his innumerable edge-guarding tools. --My signature's image :v The 70's called. I PK Fire ignites after hitting Lloid Rocket. It limits Villager's options and prevents him from using Lloid to cover his approach. And you're right about the bold statement, I'll change it. TalTal8 (talk) 16:30, 7 January 2016 (EST)
