Greninja is male in Ultimate

Because Greninja's Final Smash incorporates Ash-Greninja, that means the Greninja seen in Ultimate is male. As you can see on this Bulbapedia page, Ash-Greninja is always male, due to being an event Pokemon based on the Greninja Ash has in the X and Y anime. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hinata2000100 (talkcontribs) 18:48, October 14, 2018‎

The reason the pronoun is "it" and not "he" is most likely to keep everything safe, like all the other Pokemon and Sheik. Personally, I think we should leave it ambiguous until concrete evidence that Smash Greninja is male. SugarCookie420 (talk) 19:06, 14 October 2018 (EDT)
While I think acknowledgement of Greninja's sex in the trivia section is perfectly fine, I think the pronouns used in the article should still be "it". It is standard to refer to Pokemon as "it", even if the sex of an individual is known. For example, Ash's Pikachu in the anime is definitively male, but it is consistently referred to as "it" instead of "he". Since the introduction of gendered Pikachus in Generation IV, it could be argued that the Pikachu in Smash has been male since Brawl, but we never switched to using masculine pronouns. I see no reason to switch to them now for Greninja. Nintendo101 (talk) 19:26, 14 October 2018 (EDT)
Oh, I definitely think we should keep the article itself gender-neutral. I was just offering evidence for the trivia point, as I noticed it was in contention for a bit. Hinata2000100 (talk) 19:29, 14 October 2018 (EDT)
