:I'm not sure how something like that would actually work though. The way the table is formatted kinda makes it impossible to do so from what I know about Wiki formatting. But I agree it's not sensible to have the roster order the way we currently do. I don't know who made that decision, but I certainly wasn't involved in that process. :::For column sorting, you could easily have the default arrangement and then assign sort-keys that are more aligned with the target sort (in this case series, possibly use numbers). Sorting would then do it by series order (or however it is setup), pressing the sort button again would do reverse series order, and once more back to default. As for the grid tables... not without some funky CSS or JS, either of which would need to be done by admins, but it would still be a headache for whomever does it. The "simplest" way I found would require replacing every cell with a <<nowiki/>div> and using JS to sort. --[[User:CanvasK|CanvasK]] ([[User talk:CanvasK|talk]]) 14:58, May 8, 2022 (EDT)

Forums: Index Proposals Button/option to switch between fighter/series orders
Proposed.png This discussion is in regards to a proposed change on SmashWiki. The discussion must first meet with a consensus before it is implemented.

IIRC the decision to keep the order of fighters and stages in Ultimate in a predetermined order based on the series and several other criteria was made relatively early on in the release of Ultimate. I feel as though now that there has been several years passing since the release, that many people are now used to the in-game order of the fighters, and feel as though there should at least be an option to switch between the two. I'm not sure if that would be possible but I'm aware that other wikis have an option to order lists based on descending/ascending alphabetical order by clicking on the column title, i imagine it would be similar to that if it were to be implemented Luigi86101 (talk) 14:13, May 8, 2022 (EDT)

I'm not sure how something like that would actually work though. The way the table is formatted kinda makes it impossible to do so from what I know about Wiki formatting. But I agree it's not sensible to have the roster order the way we currently do. I don't know who made that decision, but I certainly wasn't involved in that process. Looked more into it and it would seem we would need to specify a sorting key for each fighter? https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Sorting, so where it says `{|class="wikitable" style="text-align:center;margin:1em auto 1em auto;"` in the character table template, replace "wikitable" with "wikitable sortable." As for a way to make it sort in non-ascending order, not completely sure but i would we would have to do something with sort types https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Sorting#Forcing_the_sort_mode_for_a_column Luigi86101 (talk) 14:38, May 8, 2022 (EDT)
For column sorting, you could easily have the default arrangement and then assign sort-keys that are more aligned with the target sort (in this case series, possibly use numbers). Sorting would then do it by series order (or however it is setup), pressing the sort button again would do reverse series order, and once more back to default. As for the grid tables... not without some funky CSS or JS, either of which would need to be done by admins, but it would still be a headache for whomever does it. The "simplest" way I found would require replacing every cell with a <div> and using JS to sort. --CanvasK (talk) 14:58, May 8, 2022 (EDT)
