Well, what a category!! Almost every term would fall under unofficial lingo, to such an extent that it would be more prudent to discuss "official lingo" as a category instead of the other way around. The official name for tilt attacks, for instance, is a "strong attack." Every advanced technique is a name made up or borrowed from another fighting game, not straight from HAL or Nintendo. Many character-specific names, such as "the knee" or "shine" would also fall into this category. I don't think it would be prudent to try and sort through every instance of lingo or jargon coined outside of Nintendo. MaskedMarth 02:10, September 13, 2006 (GMT)

Hmm...

Shouldn't this category be named "conjectural terms"? BNK [E|T|C] 07:00, March 18, 2010 (UTC)

It could be, and it almost means the same thing. But I think the difference is this: "conjectural" gives the impression that an official name may be revealed/discovered/given at a later date, or that the current name is a guess, and once the official name is discovered it will be implemeneted. "Unofficial" tells a user that the name is known to be unofficial, but people use it because it's more widely-known than the official name, or there is no official name.
