Bulbasaur, also known as Fushigidane (フシギダネ, Fushigidane) in Japan, is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Creature description

Bulbasaur is the Grass-type Starter Pokémon in Pokémon, and its GBA remake. It can evolve into Ivysaur at level 16, and later into Venusaur at level 32. Bulbasaur looks like a green frog with a bulb on its back. The bulb can be used to synthesize sunlight to launch a powerful SolarBeam or recover with Synthesis. Also it can scatter PoisonPowder, Sleep Powder, or fire Seed Bombs or Leech Seeds to attack.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

While a major Pokémon in its own right, Bulbasaur is only lightly represented in the Smash Bros. series.

As a Trophy

Bulbasaur features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

Bulbasaur is a cute Pokémon born with a large seed firmly affixed to its back; the seed grows in size as the Pokémon does. Along with Squirtle and Charmander, Bulbasaur is one of three Pokémon available at the beginning of Pokémon Red & Blue. It evolves first into Ivysaur and ultimately into Venusaur.
