In Super Smash Bros., the 1P Game (commonly referred to as 1P Mode and single-player) was the only single-player campaign mode available for play. In the mode, players progressed through a series of battles (interrupted by a bonus game after every three matches), culminating in a final battle with the game's boss, Master Hand. The mode was largely forgettable, due to its static nature (you fight the same characters on the same levels in a fixed order on each playthrough). There are fourteen stages including bonus stages in this mode and players may choose their character and their number of lives. The 1P Game was reworked into Classic Mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee and featured a number of improvements, among them the removal of fixed battles.
