Daisy's early appearance

Princess Daisy (デイジー姫, Deijī-Hime) is the titian-haired, tomboy, princess, and best friend of Peach, who first appears in Super Mario Land. She was kidnapped by a tyrannical alien named Tatanga who wishes to marry her and rule over her kingdom, Sarasaland. She later appears in NES Open Tournament Golf as Luigi's caddy. Daisy does not reappear until Mario Tennis years later. Since then, she has maintained part of the main roles in the various Mario spin-off titles, appearing in over thirty of these games to date.

Daisy's first voice actress was Kate Fleming in Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64. Her next voice actress was Jen Taylor, who provided her voice in Mario Party 3. In every other game, Daisy has been, and is currently, voiced by Deanna Mustard.

Outside of the video games, she appears as one of the main characters in the Super Mario Bros. film, played by Samantha Mathis (where she serves as Luigi's romantic interest), and takes up her Super Mario Land role in the Game Boy comic books.

In her original design, she wore a yellow and white dress, had on a red/rose crown in her debut and Mario Party 3, had tanned skin, and hair the same length as Princess Peach. Since Mario Party 4, she now wears a yellow and orange dress, wears a golden crown, has her original skin tone, has shorter (but still long) hair, and is depicted with many other specific new traits.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

In Melee, one of Princess Peach's alternate costumes is a costume similar to Daisy's design, with the same dress and hair color Daisy has. A trophy of Daisy is also in the game, which hints at some sort of relationship between her and Luigi. Also, in early products, there is a glitch on the trophy. It shows that behind her hair is a third eye. This was removed in later copies of the game a sit was a mistake.

Trophy Description

The princess of Sarasa-land. Daisy met Mario when he helped defeat the evil alien Tatanga in Super Mario Land. Princess Daisy is a bit of a tomboy when compared with her counterpart, Princess Peach. After her appearance in Mario Golf, some gossips started portraying her as Luigi's answer to Mario's Peach.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Daisy's pallete returns in Brawl as one of Peach's palette swaps.

Unlike in Melee, however, the shape of her outfit and dress pattern remain unchanged. There is also again a trophy of Daisy but in her Mario Strikers Charged uniform. Daisy also appears as two stickers, one from Mario Strikers Charged, and the other from Mario Party 7 with Peach, wearing her traditional yellow and orange dress.

Trophy Description

The princess of Sarasaland and an upbeat and cheerful go-getter. She has appeared in titles ever since Mario saved her after her kidnapping by the tyrannical alien, Tatanga. Although her iconic look is a yellow and white dress, she goes with a sportier look in Super Mario Strikers to complement her spunky scoring strikes.

Trivia

  • Luigi and Daisy are hinted to be in a relationship. Such hints include having good chemistry in Mario Superstar Baseball, Daisy calling Luigi "sweetie" in Mario Power Tennis, and two statues (one is depicted in present time, the other depicts the time they were babies) of the two holding hands and dancing in a course in Mario Kart Wii.
  • Daisy's Super Smash Bros. Melee trophy states that she appeared in Mario Golf for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color rather than Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color. Although Daisy appeared in NES Open Tournament Golf in 1991, the only Mario Golf game she has appeared in is Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, and that game was released nineteen months after Super Smash Bros. Melee.
  • Also in Super Smash Bros. Melee, her trophy is depicted with maroon shoes, and Peach's costume recolor is depicted with teal shoes. Daisy's shoes are, and have always been orange, therefore both colors are incorrect.
  • Daisy's Super Smash Bros. Brawl trophy states "her iconic look is a yellow and white dress", regardless of the fact Daisy hasn't worn her yellow and white dress for years.
