Jinjos are recurring collectibles in the Banjo-Kazooie franchise.

Origin

An orange Jinjo in Banjo-Kazooie.

In the original Banjo-Kazooie, five Jinjos - blue, green, orange, purple, and yellow - are scattered across each world. When Banjo and Kazooie collect all five of them in a world, they are awarded one of ten collectible Jiggies by the one collected last. Should the duo leave the world before all five are collected, the Jinjos' positions will reset, and Banjo and Kazooie will need to recollect the returned ones when they re-enter the world; should they re-enter the world after collecting all five and collect them again, the duo will instead be rewarded with an extra life.

Jinjos also play a key role in the final boss battle against Gruntilda, who, in the second to last phase of the fight, has cast a spell to give her a shield immune to all attacks from both Banjo and Kazooie. Four Jinjo statues then rise up, and activating them summons four Jinjos, who attack Gruntilda, knocking her off her broom - after which, a single, large Jinjo statue rises up, dubbing itself as "The Mighty Jinjonator. After activating the statue, the four previously summoned Jinjos get absorbed by The Mighty Jinjonator, and The Mighty Jinjonator rams into Gruntilda multiple times, before knocking her off of her tower with one final blow.

In Banjo-Tooie, the Hag 1 machine is responsible for both killing the grey Jinjos and scaring the rest of them away from Jinjo Village, resulting in King Jingaling asking for Banjo and Kazooie to help collect them and bring them back, with white, brown, red, and black Jinjos joining the previous five as collectibles, and completing a family of Jinjos awards the duo with a Jiggy. Minjos, arch-enemies of the Jinjos, are also introduced, and serve as Jinjo imposters that attack Banjo and Kazooie should they get too close.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Assist role

Banjo & Kazooie's Final Smash in Ultimate summons The Mighty Jinjonator, who is powered by four Jinjos - one purple, one orange, one green, and one yellow - as it is in Banjo-Kazooie. The Mighty Jinjonator, after being summoned, rams into the opponents multiple times, before dealing one final blow (with the other four Jinjos being seen flying towards the opponents as well).
