To commemorate the release of Super Smash Bros. 4, and the Super Smash Bros. series as a whole, Nintendo has announced an invitational tournament being hosted during E3 2014, at the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Little information is known about it at this time, but the information known so far is:[1]

  • The game played will be Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
  • 16 "highly skilled" players will be invited to participate.
  • The tournament will have 3,000 in-person spectators with costumed fans receiving priority seating,[2] and there will be a live stream of it with commentators.
  • A video contest is currently in progress, the winner of which will be awarded a VIP trip to the event and have the opportunity to play one of the tournament winners.
