Tom Nook is a main character of the Animal Crossing series. In the games, he is the owner of the shop in each town, and he also loans you the money for a house, which you pay back throughout the course of the game.

Tom Nook makes an appearance as a trophy in Melee. While playing in the English language, the game for the trophy is listed as "Future Release".
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
In the Animal Crossing-based Smashville stage, Tom Nook also makes an appearance in the background.
